Welcome & Invitation

June 27, 2025

Dear Friends in Christ,

As you, the leaders of Maine's summer chapels, begin another season to worship God, and to celebrate the gifts of nourishing your faith community—and your community’s ministry in your local setting—we greet you and we praise God for you.

On behalf of all of us who work in the diocesan office, we want you to know we’re here for you. Whether you’re opening the doors of your chapel for the first time in months, or deep into your summer season preparations, our staff is ready to support you in every way we can.

Below, you’ll find a list of diocesan staff and how each of us can assist you—whether it's questions about clergy supply, support with insurance or compliance forms, help sharing your chapel’s story, or simply being a sounding board. We've also included a links to an updated contact form, which will ensure we have the most current information on your leadership team, and a form for you to share with us your clergy roster for the season.

Summer Chapel Gathering

Save the Date! Please join us on Zoom on Tuesday, Aug. 6, 9 –10:30 a.m.

It will be a time to connect, share updates, ask questions, and celebrate the unique ministry of our summer chapels. John Hennessy, director of public policy for the Diocese of Maine, will share a presentation on Social Justice and Advocacy in Maine.

A reminder with the Zoom link and agenda will be sent closer to the date.

Please share this letter and the enclosed resources with your leadership team and anyone else who might need the information—especially when you receive mailings from Church Insurance or other administrative bodies.

Thank you for the ministry you offer through your summer chapel. We know it is a place of deep joy and connection for so many. As ever, we are just a phone call or email away and are honored to walk alongside you.

Wishing you a smooth opening and a spirit-filled summer season!

Faithfully,

The Rt. Rev. Thomas J. Brown

Tenth Bishop of Maine
