If we haven't received all of your tax information by March 1, we generally file an extension so we can concentrate our heavy workload on clients who have submitted all of their documents. This does not increase your chances for an audit.
We prepare and file extension forms with the IRS, and some states if required, to request additional time to file your tax returns. This allows us more time to receive late-arriving information and complete your returns accurately. While the full extension time period is 6 months, we can, and prefer to, file any time before that deadline (October 15).
It is important to remember that we still need to estimate your tax liability, and you need to pay those estimates by April 15 to avoid interest and penalties. Be sure to submit all the tax documents you have by April 1 so we have time to calculate your estimated payments due!
Also, you must pay any balances due for past BCPAG invoices in order for us to extend and continue working on your accounts (or have signed up for a monthly auto-payment plan).
