Celebrating Our Latest Rollover Winner:

Cindy Norwood!

We’re excited to share some heart‑warming news with our community this week! Cindy Norwood of Stillwater Lake was overjoyed to learn that she is our newest rollover winner. The news came as such a surprise that Cindy could hardly believe her luck!

Cindy joked that the only thing she had ever won before was a workout DVD on the PEI Ferry about 40 years ago. While that felt pretty exciting at the time, she says this win is on a whole different level!

A familiar face in the community, Cindy is also a regular volunteer in St. Margaret’s Bay. She knows firsthand how far community support can go — and that every toonie played helps fuel important programs and organizations throughout the area. That understanding makes this win even more meaningful to her.

Cindy plays her toonies in Tantallon each week, usually at the Tantallon Sobeys or Lefty’s Restaurant. As for plans for the prize, she’s still happily processing the news. A nice trip sounds wonderful, she says — or maybe even a new car, since she’s been without one for quite some time. Whatever she decides, she’s incredibly grateful and plans to put the winnings to good use.

Please join us in congratulating Cindy on her exciting win! And thank you to everyone who continues to support the weekly draw — your participation truly makes stories like this possible.

Good luck in next week's draw and thank you for your support!

Spotlight on Honorarium Group

Beachville Lakeside Timberlea Citizens on Patrol

Citizens on Patrol

Join our volunteer team, Beechville Lakeside Timberlea Citizens on Patrol, (BLTCoP), to serve as the "extra eyes and ears" for the RCMP. We focus on observing and reporting suspicious activity to help keep our community safe.

Core Responsibilities

· Patrol: Walk, drive, bicycle or boat through the neighbourhood to monitor for safety concerns.

· Report: Provide timely, accurate information to the RCMP regarding non-emergencies. This is done digitally now, and we can supply pictures and the exact location using our app.

· Connect: Engage with neighbours to promote crime prevention awareness.

Why Join?

· Enhance Safety: Discourage criminal activity through a visible presence.

· Support Police: Free up RCMP resources by handling preliminary observations.

· Build Community: Meet like-minded residents dedicated to a secure environment.

· Note: Volunteers are observers only. We do not engage with suspects or perform law enforcement duties.

As a COP member, you are asked to volunteer only four hours a month, plus one meeting a month.

It is obvious that people are getting concerned about what is going on in their communities. In the last year COP has grown from four to ten groups.

Requirements to Join.

You must be at least 19 years old.

Have a Criminal Record Check done at no cost to you.

Have at least a class 5 driver's licence and have an insured vehicle.

How to join?

Go to https://www.nscopa.ca and fill in the form.

Many thanks to Kieran Kelly and Keith Helpard (pictured above) for counting this week.

Toonie Tip: Keep a Lid on it!

When you’re marking your toonie at a BTC treasure chest, please remember to pop the cap back on our ultra-fine, permanent Sharpie marker when you’re done. A capped marker stays fresh for the next player—helping everyone mark their coins quickly and clearly!

A small gesture that keeps the fun flowing for the whole community. 💙

Step Into Stewardship — Be Part of Guiding the Future of the Five Bridge Lakes Wilderness Area

The Five Bridges Wilderness Heritage Trust invites community members, supporters, and partners to attend our upcoming Annual General Meeting on March 14, 2026, from 2:00–4:00 pm. The meeting will take place at the Estabrooks Community Centre, where we’ll share updates on current projects, celebrate achievements, and outline priorities for the coming year.

As we prepare for the AGM, we encourage members to renew their memberships and support the Trust’s volunteer‑driven conservation work. Annual memberships are $10 for individuals or $15 for families.

Learn more or renew your membership at: fivebridgestrust.ca

Your membership helps fund trail improvements, conservation projects, and community outreach across the Five Bridge Lakes Wilderness Area — sustaining the wild spaces we all care about.

This AGM is a wonderful opportunity to connect with fellow wilderness stewards, learn more about ongoing conservation efforts, and help shape the direction of the Trust’s work. All are welcome. We look forward to seeing you there.
