"Brothers and sisters: What does Scripture say? The word is near you, in your mouth and in your heart—that is, the word of faith that we preach—, for, if you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For one believes with the heart and so is justified, and one confesses with the mouth and so is saved."

~Romans 10

From Our Pastor

Dear Parishioners and Friends,

In your kindness, please remember in your prayers the Reverend Walter F. Cushing who entered eternal life on Sunday, March 2, 2025. Father Cushing was ordained June 9, 1956 and has served as Pastor and in residence at Saint Cecilia rectory for many years. Calling hours will be held Friday, March 14th at Saint Cecilia Church, beginning at 10am, followed by his Funeral Mass at 11am. Please note that Noon Mass and Adoration will not be held on Friday March 14th due to the funeral for Father Walter Cushing.

This weekend is the first Sunday of Lent! Be sure to check the inside of the bulletin for the Lenten schedule. A reminder that Catholics abstain from eating meat on ALL Fridays of Lent. Good Friday is also a day of fasting as well as abstinence

Lent is a season of penitence, fasting, almsgiving and prayer. Although the church is devoid of flowers and bright colors in favor of a more somber and reflective liturgical theme, it is also a season of anticipation and wonder at the real power and depth of love that God has for us. Without the Lenten season, we would become less focused on our relationship with God and more preoccupied with our own selves. If we let ourselves enter more fully into Lent and let the unproductive branches be pruned away by the master gardener... Jesus himself… we will experience the peace of knowing God is near. So, in conclusion, we do not need to wait for Easter to be glad and rejoice. God's invitation to you begins today! Rejoice!

May God bless you!
