Geographical Heart of the Land of a Thousand Hills
The Garden City of Africa
Greetings from Kigali!

This month, we are featuring the beautiful city of Kigali, Rwanda's capital. Located in the geographical heart of Rwanda, Kigali is a lively and bustling capital city and home to Travulous' East-African headquarters. A relatively new city, Kigali was founded in 1907 and declared the capital during Rwandan independence in 1962. Often touted as ‘the cleanest city in Africa’, this hilly green capital city boasts an excellent selection of hotels, restaurants, shopping outlets and a thriving art scene. In the evening, be sure to see one of Africa's most iconic landmarks - the Convention Centre's beehive dome illuminating the night sky.

GREAT FOOD WITH PANORAMIC VIEWS
A wave of chef-owned restaurants makes up Kigali’s booming culinary scene. There is a nice selection of restaurants and cafes serving fusion cuisine to cater to the evolving needs of visitors and the city's growing population.
Opened in 2015, Poivre Noir quickly established itself as one of the best restaurants in the heart of the city. Serving traditional bistro cuisine, they prepare their meals using the finest, seasonal, locally-sourced ingredients and apply a French-Belgian touch thanks to spices, herbs and a few imported products.

From BBQ brochettes to haute cuisine, Kigali has a wide variety of bars and restaurants to choose from. Talk to our team for more great restaurant recommendations in Kigali.
