By mandate of our Bishop, Christ Church remains closed during the COVID-19 pandemic. Below is a message from Rev. Joanna and multiple opportunities to join us for virtual worship and other gatherings.

From Rev. Joanna
Dear Christ Church Family,
How are you? Really – how are you? Are you taking deep breaths? Are you praying? Are you taking news breaks? Parents of school-aged children, how is distance learning going?
What has been on my mind since Bishop Stokes closed the church buildings has been
how do we maintain a sense of community as a parish while we are under a shelter-in-place order?
You already know some of the things that we are doing. We have set up a phone tree so that everyone in the parish once a week (if you think that you may not be on the call list, please let us know). We are offering two Sunday services in two different mediums (Zoom and Facebook live) to ensure maximum participation. During the week, you can join us via Zoom for our Bible Study on Tuesdays and Wednesday Noonday Prayer. This past Sunday, I spent time with some of the children and youth of the parish and their parents (via Zoom), and we are working on ways to continue offering spiritual development and social opportunities for the children and youth. My hope is that everyone has at least one touch point each week with the parish. To that note, I am instituting a weekly Parish Town Hall Zoom meeting on Wednesdays at 6p.m. You will find the information at the end of this email. I know that I have certainly appreciated people’s texts and calls and have enjoyed spending time with folks online and on the phone.
We have also been working on Holy Week. We will be offering online services (you will be able to call in), and you will have the opportunity to create your own Holy Week experience in your own homes with the resources we will be putting together over the next week. One thing to put in your calendar is that on Saturday, April 4
th
, you will be able to pick up palms from the church from 10a.m. to Noon. The Altar Guild will use all safety precautions to separate the palms in bundles, and I will be present at the church during pickup time on April 4
th
to give you palms. Please come to the tower doors. We will be using safety precautions and the required 6 feet distancing. If you are not comfortable receiving palms from the church this year (totally acceptable), I invite you to take a walk outside and to collect leaves, long grass or branches and create your own “palms” for Palm Sunday!
Due to how COVID-19 is transmitted, if anyone in the parish tests positive and is in the hospital, neither Rev. Pete nor I will be able to come for a visit (hospitals will not allow it). However, that does not mean you cannot reach us. We can still talk on the phone or do Facetime or WhatsApp video. We will make it work. Just know that we are reachable and that we want to support you no matter what.
Please know that I am praying for everyone in the parish daily and wish you all the best of health. Please do not hesitate to contact me or Rev. Pete Cornell if you just want to talk or want prayer. We also encourage you to reach out to other parishioners as well!
Blessings and Love,
Rev. Joanna+

Dear Christ Church Family,
In our email to you last week, we gave you a lot of information! We wanted to remind you of our virtual services this Sunday, including a virtual musical meditation offered by our beloved John Sheridan, and give you some additional resources for prayer and connection with God!
Virtual Noonday Prayer:
We will host virtual noonday prayer on
Wednesdays at 12pm.
Instead of Facebook, we will be using a platform called Zoom which will allow for people to either call in or video chat in. Noonday prayers take about 10 minutes. If you are using your phone or computer to video chat, you will want to download the free Zoom app
here
.
You do not need to download anything if you plan to call in
. The call-in phone number, as well as the video link for Zoom can be found at the end of this email.
Sunday Services
: 8am Morning Prayer on Zoom and 10:30am Morning Prayer on Facebook Live. The call-in phone number, as well as the video link for Zoom can be found at the end of this email. Find the Facebook page
here.
Taking Faith Home:
Normally, you would find the weekly
Taking Faith Home
handout in our Parish Notes, but we will send it out to you weekly. This week’s is
here
. I encourage you to use this as a resource for your own spiritual grounding and health during this challenging time.
Ministry Updates
Food Pantry:
Unless there is some unforeseen event, the
Food Pantry will remain open.
Volunteers will be needed as the Rutgers students, whom the Food Pantry relies heavily upon during distribution, are no longer on campus. If you are interested in helping out, please contact
Judith Kuldinow
Laundry Love
is suspended pending determinations as to how to serve the population while maintaining measures to limit the spread of the COVID-19 virus.
Pledging:
The Vestry encourages you to continue to pledge to the parish during this time. You will find the PayPal link for Christ Church donations at the bottom of our website (at the bottom of the page). Click

Fun
draiser for Christ Church
Dear Christ Church Family,
I am holding a fundraiser on Facebook for our parish with
Thirty On
e, a company that sells organizational and home products. Even if we are not friends on Facebook, you can join the party via this link:
Want to shop on Line, no problem. Here is a link for that:
Our consultant, Erica Piechota, who I have worked with on several occasions, is donating her commission to our church.
This is an easy. fun way to generate some funds for our mission and needs.
The Facebook party will be live on
Monday, March 30 at 8 PM.
But join the link soon as Erica will have fun questions and posts. I will share some pictures of
Thirty One
products I have and use.
If you have questions, please reach out, I am happy to discuss.
Thanks-

A musical offering from John Sheridan
At Christ Church, we have a century-plus long tradition of great liturgical worship with inspiring music. During our current moment, when we must refrain from gathering together and public worship has been suspended, I suspect many are missing the music that informs and inspires our worship. So, we will be offering a weekly "virtual musical meditation," structured as a worship service, with prelude, postlude, hymns, anthems, and a mass setting all provided via internet-based performances. You are invited to follow this series of musical numbers and texts as a meditation, at your own pace. The hymns are printed so that you may sing (or play!) along if you like; and the appointed lessons are printed so that you can read and ponder them. We hope you find this helpful during this time of social distance. Be well! You can find this musical offering
here.

Additional Resources from Rev. Joanna: Y
esterday, this fun, free resource came to me through Illustrated Ministry - the company where we get our weekly children's bulletins. It's called "Prayers for When You are Feeling Anxious," and you can find it
here.
In it, you will find three beautiful prayers in the form of coloring pages that remind us of God's never-ending presence in our lives. As you know, coloring pages are not just for children, but are for all! I hope that you enjoy this resource by yourself or with your children! Feel free to send it to your friends!
Here
you'll find the weekly Children's Worship bulletin that you'd normally find in the rear of the church.
The Episcopal Church has a virtual prayer wall where you can submit intercessions so that people worldwide can pray with and for you! You will find it
here.
