Dear LTHS Community,

Last week, 951 members of the Class of 2026 walked across the stage at Bennett Field and received their diplomas on a beautiful evening that none of us will soon forget. View highlights of the evening's celebration set to the tune of our Alma Mater "My Days of Gold and Blue" by Alum Jimmy Dunne. As the 2025–26 school year comes to a close, I find myself reflecting on just how much our school community has accomplished, and feeling genuinely grateful to be a part of the LT community. On behalf of the District 204 Board of Education and our incredible LTHS staff, thank you. Thank you to our students for showing up every day with curiosity and a passion for learning. Thank you to our parents/guardians and families for the trust you place in us. And thank you to our staff for the tireless dedication you bring to supporting our students. This has been a truly special year, and none of it happens without everyone working together.

One of the things I love most about LT is that our excellence, innovation, and empowerment shows up in so many different ways. This year, just to highlight a few special moments, our Special Olympics Basketball team brought home a State Championship for the first time in 20 years! As a school community, we were also honored to receive the inaugural Governor's Blue Ribbon Award for Excellence in Schools, a recognition that reflects the individual hard work happening in our classrooms, hallways, and communities. And, the District 204 Board of Education received the School Board Governance Recognition from the Illinois Association of School Boards, a tribute to the thoughtful leadership that guides our district by our volunteer board members. These are just a few of the accomplishments we are celebrating. To see so many more, check out our 2025-26 Inside Look magazine!

We also celebrated making improvements to our campuses this year. The new South Campus Commons/Cafeteria is open and buzzing with energy, which is just one piece of our larger Groundwork for a Brighter Future Project that so many community members helped shape through the feedback and engagement process. I am grateful for that partnership that we continue to have with our amazing community. We also had a beautiful moment on April 7 when we dedicated the Stacy Ann Baker Girls' Softball Complex, made possible by a remarkable $3 million gift from Michael Baker and the Stacy Ann Baker Charitable Fund. This generous donation will positively impact student athletes for decades to come!

The 2025-26 school year served as the fourth year living the comprehensive Strategic Plan adopted by the District 204 Board of Education in June 2022. The progress we have made as a school community has been truly exciting to see. With the current strategic plan “sunsetting” in June 2027, we will embark on the development of another strategic plan during the 2026-27 school year, and we look forward to sharing additional details about that process very soon.

Finally, I encourage our school community to regularly visit the LTHS website throughout the summer to stay connected with everything happening in our school.

Wishing you a wonderful, restful summer.

Excellence – Innovation – Empowerment
