Hello Climate Creatives,

Innovation.
COP26, the UN Climate Change Conference, has brought focus to the terrifying reality of climate change and the hopeful possibility for change. We choose to stay positive, so in our newsletters we will be featuring innovative solutions that can have a big impact.

#Do1Thing - is it meaningful?
After I spoke on the CALE webinar, a participant challenged me on my do anything philosophy, and she was right - I had not connected the dots. How can individual actions make enough of an impact? Individual actions do add up, but change that is led by businesses, institutions, governments, and policy are essential to reach the scale we need. What individuals can do, and must do, is apply pressure by changing the culture and VOTE for climate action policy.

Remember when it was acceptable to throw trash out the car window, or smoke in a restaurant? Or on a plane? And now it is not. Just as it no longer can be acceptable to make excuses or shrug in the face of climate change. Societal change comes from collective pressure to create good policies and to be good actors. It comes from the heart and soul of all of us. So make some noise, be creative, be engaged, and make the change. Broward County shows what deep community engagement looks like (see it at the bottom of this email).

Wait!
Why did we open by calling YOU Climate Creatives? Because everyone has the capacity to communicate and act on climate in their own creative way. Talking about climate change has been shown to be necessary and effective in moving the dial - positive messaging is most effective. Join us in speaking up.

Stay well and stay hopeful-

Climate Creatives' Rising Waters installed in schools in Broward County, Florida

Rising Waters was installed at over 16 locations across Broward County, Florida last week to publicize COP26 and King Tide flooding. In collaboration with the School Board of Broward County and the Broward County Environmental Planning & Community Resilience Division, we trained students and teachers to install Rising Waters themselves (see more pics below).

We will be scaling other Climate Creatives projects using our train-the-trainer model.
