Lived Experience Network Advisory Meetings

The Lived Experience Network South East Ontario is an open community of people living with dementia and similar diagnoses and their family/care partners, sharing their lived experiences, advice and input (past and present) with the health care community and with each other, in hopes of enhancing services across the region.

Monthly Zoom Advisory Meetings are happening in November and you are invited to participate.

Join November's Conversation!

The Advisory topic for the month of November comes from the Lived Experience Network South East Ontario:

Advisory Lived Experience Zoom Chat Topic: Exchanging Knowledge and
Partnering for Change

We often hear the question, “What exactly do you do again?”. Many have a hard time fully understanding what the Lived Experience Network is, what we do, and how we meet our goal of “Exchanging Knowledge and Partnering for Change”. In November’s meeting we invite you to share your feedback to help us grow and improve the work we do AND we will also give you some time to ask some questions you may have about how the Lived Experience Network functions.  Come prepared to share:

  1. What is your experience participating in the Lived Experience Network?
  2. Are the questions being asked reflective of your experiences within the system of care?
  3. What are your ideas for how we can promote equity, diversion and inclusion within the Lived Experience Network South East Ontario?
  4. YOUR questions about the Lived Experience Network South East Ontario?

Please let us know if you can come, and which date you plan to attend. While it is not mandatory to register, it is very helpful when providing technical assistance and we can provide you with a meeting agenda. If you are unable to attend, you are welcome to email Sharon your insights or questions.

  • Monday, November 24, 2025 - Daytime Zoom Chat: 1:00 - 2:30 PM

Advisory Lived Experience Zoom Chats provide a way for health care system leaders, who plan, assess and provide service to people living with dementia or similar diagnoses in South East Ontario to receive advice and observations from people with lived experience (past and present) with the purpose of improving the system of care. Lived Experience Facilitator, Sharon Osvald will facilitate these Advisory conversations.

In-Home Activation Program Needs Volunteers!

We are looking for additional volunteers to help support our In-Home Activation Program. Eligible volunteers would provide one-on-one engagement and activities to a local person living with dementia in their home (for 1.5-2 hours) while allowing the care partner to take a well-deserved break. We would provide required materials and activities (eg. puzzles, games, crafts and more). All volunteers receive training and resources! Support local this Giving Tuesday

Right now, more than 5,000 people are living with dementia in Hastings-Prince Edward, and that number is climbing every single day. In Canada, someone develops dementia every 3 minutes. Behind every diagnosis are overwhelmed families, exhausted care partners, and real people searching for answers. Your donation today gives the help and hope they are looking for.

On Tuesday, December 2 — Giving Tuesday — your friends and neighbours need you to stand with them. Will you be there when it matters most?

Your support brings life-changing care, education, and resources — every dollar is used right here in Hastings-Prince Edward, and sends a resounding message: no one should face dementia alone. This Giving Tuesday, make your impact where it matters: close to home.

WHAT IS GIVING TUESDAY?

Giving Tuesday is a global day of generosity that occurs on the Tuesday after U.S. Thanksgiving, encouraging people to give back to their communities. It is a movement that promotes charitable donations, volunteering, acts of kindness, and supporting local businesses as a counterbalance to the consumer spending of Black Friday and Cyber Monday. The day, created in 2012, is a celebration of giving that involves individuals, non-profits, and businesses coming together to make a positive impact.

It getting to be that time of year again! The Rushlow family Christmas display opens up on Saturday November 22nd at 4pm and will be accepting donations to the Alzheimer Society, the firefighters toy Drive and Gleaner’s Food bank.

Walk 2025 Results

When you support your local IG Wealth Management Walk for Alzheimer's - you are apart of something bigger. You are part of a group of over 28,000 Canadians who want to make a difference in the lives of those living with dementia. You are taking a step towards a better future for those impacted by dementia here in Canada.

THANK YOU to all those who helped Alzheimer Societies across Canada raise over 7 million dollars in 2025.

Join the IG Wealth Management Walk for Alzheimer’s, Canada’s largest fundraiser supporting dementia care, taking place on May 30 and 31, 2026, in over 150 communities across the country. We are currently looking for volunteers to join our local Walk committees and help us plan our events in Bancroft, Belleville, Prince Edward County, Quinte West, Brighton and Tweed for May 30/31, 2026.

Funds raised support local programs delivered by Alzheimer Societies across Canada, providing essential services for those impacted by dementia. With more than 700,000 Canadians currently living with dementia—and nearly one million projected by 2030—the need is urgent.

Pledge forms and walk information launches during Alzheimer's Awareness Month in January - stay tuned!

Did you know? ASHPE is less than 47% funded. We rely on the support of our community and donors to continue providing our programs and services in our region! THANK YOU for your support in 2025.

Consider making a year end or holiday donation!
When December 31 passes, so does your chance to receive a 2025 charitable tax receipt for your donation.
What does that mean for you? In Ontario, you could get back up to 40% of your donation when you file your taxes. That means more money in your pocket at tax time and helping families living with dementia right now.

Congratulations to all 2025 nominees and winners!
