Bishop's Disaster Relief Appeal - Hawaii - UPDATE
A heartfelt THANK YOU to all who have donated to the Bishop’s Appeal for the Maui fire victims. In addition to funds sent directly to Episcopal Relief and Development (ER&D), the Diocese received over $18,000 to be forwarded to ER&D in support of those devastated by this disaster.
Bishop Marray has been in touch with Bishop Fitzpatrick of the Diocese of Hawai'i who also suggests donating to Holy Innocents’ Church. Bishop Fitzpatrick shared that the church, preschool and vicarage have all been destroyed. Many parishioners and preschool teachers lost their homes, and one parishioner was killed in the fire. More information and updates (including links to donate online) can be found here. Any donations made through the Diocese moving forward will be sent to Holy Innocents' Church through the Diocese of Hawai'i. If you prefer to mail or deliver your contribution (made out to the Diocese of Easton), to Bray House at 314 North Street, Easton, MD 21601, please include in the memo line Bishop’s Disaster Relief and we will forward to the Diocese of Hawai'i for Holy Innocents' Church.

|
This month's Diaconal ministry spotlight provided by our Archdeacon, The Ven. Laura Harbaugh, is entitled "Deacons in the Liturgy (Part 2)".“Deacons act as emissaries and deputies of the bishop, and this relationship is reflected in their liturgical role. From Ignatius of Antioch at the beginning of the second century, deacons have stood in a special place alongside the bishop, representing closeness and solidarity in ministry. At their ordination, the bishop tells the ordinands: ‘God now calls you to a special ministry of servanthood [diakonia] directly under your bishop’ (BCP 435).” The Rev. Ormonde Plater, Deacon, Deacons in the Liturgy Click here for full article.
