February 2026 IDDSI e-bite

As we move into 2026, we are continually amazed and excited about the IDDSI ideas and activities the Global Community is engaged in. We know many people are looking for resources to help support implementation in their organization, region and country.

IDDSI has developed and continues to develop many resources which are freely available on our website for use.  We do have guidelines that we request everyone follows when making use of these free resources.

We encourage everyone to make use of the resources found here.

You do not need special permission  from IDDSI to use our resources as they have been developed by IDDSI for public use. However, the IDDSI Framework may be used in educational materials as long as the copyright and Creative Commons license are cited. Please ensure you cite the CreativeCommons BY-SA 4.0 license as follows:

The IDDSI Framework was developed to improve safety for those experiencing dysphagia through standardized terminology and descriptions of food textures and drink thickness. Testing methods were also developed to determine if food or drinks conform to the requirements of the IDDSI Standard.

We therefore ask that you DO NOT alter any elements of the Framework.  Alterations can lead to confusion and errors in diet texture or drink selection for people with dysphagia. These errors have previously been associated with adverse events including choking and death.

We also kindly ask that you DO NOT use the IDDSI logo on any materials that are not officially produced and made available by IDDSI. This will help to avoid any misunderstanding, confusion, or perception that the information was produced by, endorsed, certified, or promoted by IDDSI.

IDDSI in the UK

Many thanks to the UK Swallow Research Group for inviting IDDSI to exhibit at the 11th UKSRG Conference in Birmingham, UK. It was amazing to interact with participants and to learn from an informal survey that 100% of IDDSI booth visitors use IDDSI in their practice! Congratulations to the UKSRG Committee members for a most successful event.

So thrilled to report that 100% of IDDSI booth visitors already use IDDSI!

Sheffield Teaching Hospitals showcased innovation in speech and language therapy during a visit from the CEO of Royal College of Speech and Language Therapists, highlighting multidisciplinary working and service development. The visit also featured an IDDSI-friendly buffet, reflecting the ongoing partnership with the STH catering team chefs and OHK to strengthen the quality, safety and consistency of texture-modified meals across the Trust.
