An alert from the US Section of the
Women's International League for Peace and Freedom
Poor Peoples Campaign

WILPF's solidarity action with the Poor People's Campaign begins with an energizing virtual kickoff!
On February 16, please come to hear Rev Dr. Liz Theoharis, Co-Chair of the Poor People's Campaign. She will greet WILPF and invite us to bring our enthusiasm and history of activism to the campaign's Moral March on DC on June 18.

Please join us on Wednesday, February 16, at 8 pm EST / 5 pm PST by registering in advance here.

After registering, you will receive a confirmation email containing information about joining the meeting. Rev. Liz is also the director of the Kairos Center, a national organization committed to building a movement to end poverty, led by the poor. WILPF joined the Poor People's Campaign as a partner, and our branches throughout the nation have been supporting and marching with the organization for four years and more!

The June 18 Moral March was chosen through WILPF branch member voting to be one of our WILPF solidarity actions for 2022. Join WILPF members across the U.S. on June 18 as we rise up and do what we are called to in the work to overcome the injustices of systemic racism, systemic poverty, the war economy and militarism, ecological devastation. We will not heed the distorted moral narrative of religious nationalism that tells us to do nothing!

Now is the time!
This event is a time to learn from Rev Liz and from our own members. It is a time to be inspired and to examine our own values. It is a time to come together to show that we are the moral allies of the 140 million poor and low wage people in America! This campaign aspires to mobilize the combined power of the tens of millions of people in this country who have been disproportionately affected by injustices including voter disenfranchisement and their allies.

As WILPF members, let us step up to be part of this historic effort to change our nations priorities! We know that when we lift from the bottom, everybody rises!
