Draft FY 2026 - 2030 Transportation Improvement Program

The MPO is pleased to release its annually updated Transportation Improvement Program. The FY 2026 - FY 2030 Draft TIP includes $126.068 Million for bridges, $80.935 million for resurfacing, and $56.83 million for new capacity projects in Indian River County. Major projects include the widening of CR510, replacement of the Sebastian Inlet causeway (SR A1A), and a complete street retrofit of 45th Street between 43rd Avenue and 58th Avenue. This year's TIP includes a new Appendix B which identifies funding by scope code!

End to End County Road 510 Road Widening Moves Forward

In the coming weeks, the first phase of construction will kick off on the long anticipated CR-510 road widening project. Those shovels in the ground will mark the next step in a two decade effort. The project calls for the widening of CR-510 from CR-512 to U.S. 1. The improvements include widening the existing two travel lanes to four travel lanes, constructing bike lanes, and adding sidewalks. The project includes multiple signalized intersections, a roundabout, and now a two lane flyover over U.S. 1.

Initial construction will begin from the CR-512 intersection and progress south to 87th Street. The second phase will continue around the CR-510 bend to 82nd Ave (Keen readers who explored the TIP already would know this). Moreover, Right-of-Way acquisition is funded between 82nd Ave and 58th Ave in FY 2026 through 2028. The final section of the project roadway between 58th Ave and U.S. 1 recently concluded its Project Development & Environment Study (PD&E). The PD&E selected a partial overpass as seen in the graphic below.

The widening of the CR-510 corridor is exciting for the community as the corridor serves as the northern portion of the County's principal east west corridor and hurricane evacuation route. The corridor improvements also align with recently completed improvements to 58th Ave and 66th Ave. Finally, this expansion will time well with anticipated improvements to 82nd Ave and CR-512. The 82nd Ave extension will connect CR-510 to 20th Street (SR-60) and provide alternative routes to the western portions of the urbanized area. Simultaneously, resurfacing of CR-512 adjacent to I-95 will further enable both a robust and resilient transportation system.
