FALL VOLUNTEER DAY

The department is seeking volunteers for a park clean-up day on Saturday, October 4. Projects can include brush removal, litter removal, and more. Volunteer by yourself, with your family, a group, or an organization, and take pride in helping to keep Wapelhorst Park beautiful! Lunch will be provided after the event. Bring water, work gloves and wear clothes and shoes suitable for outdoor work. Volunteers will receive an email with more information prior to the event. Register by September 24 to give staff enough time to prepare.

HAYRIDES

Join us for an evening hayride this fall! Whether you’re looking for a night of laughter with friends, a memory-making family adventure, or a unique company event, this fall tradition has everything you need to celebrate the season. Hayrides begin at Fountain Lakes Park South End (Moore Lake & Skate Park) parking lot and go around both lakes. Hayride enrollment includes the trailer ride, reserved bonfire area, s’mores and drinks for a group of 25!  Book your hayride for a weekend in October - register now to secure your spot!

FAMILY CAMP OUT

Roll out your sleeping bags and pop up your tents for this unique camping experience in Blanchette Park Friday October 3 - Saturday October 4! You and your family will create some lasting memories at this overnight campout event. Registration will include a campsite area for 1 tent, planned family fun activities, dinner, s’mores and breakfast. Your camping crew will also be able to enjoy the Screen on the Green movie in the park Friday evening. Registration required and spots fill up fast!

SCREEN ON THE GREEN

Kick start your Halloween festivities with us at our annual FREE Screen on the Green movie in the park event on Friday, October 3 featuring The Nightmare Before Christmas (PG). Jack Skellington, the pumpkin king of Halloween Town, is bored with doing the same thing every year for Halloween. One day, he stumbles into Christmas Town and is so taken with the idea of Christmas that he tries to get the resident bats, ghouls, and goblins of Halloween Town to help him put on Christmas instead of Halloween - but alas, they can’t get it quite right.

FOOD TRUCKS

Join us Tuesday, September 9, for our last Food Truck Event of the season, with live music by the Trilogy Band! Bringing your own lawn chair or blanket is recommended. Alcoholic beverages and glass containers are prohibited; coolers are subject to inspection at the entrance.

Please be aware that city ordinances prohibit domesticated animals, with the exception of service animals, in the event area during Food Truck events.

  • Carry your cell phone or have a buddy join you while exercising in the parks.
  • Speed limit in ALL parks is 15 mph, be vigilant and watch for pedestrians.
  • Dogs are required to be on a leash at all times and owners are responsible for removing pet waste.
  • No motorized vehicles, including golf carts, on trails, sidewalks or grass.
  • Please be sure all fires within a barbecue pit are extinguished prior to leaving.
  • Please be courteous to other park visitors by picking up your litter and avoiding disruptive behavior.
  • Keeping your cell phone close can not only save your life in an emergency but also aid in saving the lives of others.
