The Countdown to December 23 continues!
only 42 more sleeps!
Greetings!

As promised;
ANOTHER WHISKY DINNER!

Our first Maker's Mark dinner ever will be held on November 22, see below for details!

Before we close our doors forever we will be hosting just one more whisky pairing dinner after the upocoming Maker's Mark dinner. As we keep saying; "this has been on hell of a ride". The ride we speak of is in part thanks to each and everyone one of the over 5 million people who have walked through our doors and graced our little joint on The Drive since 1986.

Many people have asked to book reservations on Friday December 23rd, our last day of service, but we didn't think it fair to open up the reservation books for our last week of service. In order to accomodate, thank and say goodbye to as many people as we can during our last week we are planning 2 seatings, 5 pm and 8pm dinner services each evening. We will be having a set menu with a few different options. Once we sort out the menu we will make it available on line.

We sincerely thank everyone for supporting our business over the past 36 years!

We’ll miss you

Maker's Mark Whisky Pairing Dinner
We will be pairing 5 Maker's Mark whiskies, with 5 southern inspired dishes created by our talented kitchen team for this tasting. Micah Dew, Maker's Mark Diplomat for Western Canada will be leading our tasting. Tickets are limited so be sure to click the link below to purchase your tickets.

Micah has been an industry professional for over 25 years and has become a sought after instructor, presenter and educator across North America. In his role, he travels preaching the gospel of bourbon and how Maker's Mark has become one of the most iconic brands.

A bit about Maker's Mark:
Bill Samuels Sr, a sixth-generation distiller, wasn’t happy with the whisky his family had been producing for nearly 170 years. He knew he could do better. In an impromptu ceremony in the family home he lit the original recipe on fire and nearly burnt the house down. Experimenting with different grains he settled on Red Winter Wheat, instead of the more commonly used rye. The result produced the velvety, full-flavoured, easy drinking whisky we know today.

Although Bill bought the old Burkes distillery in 1953 it wasn’t until 1958 that Makers Mark made it to market. Bill’s partner in this new venture was his wife, Margie. They knew they had a winning whisky and Margie wanted it to stand out on the shelves. She, created the name, designed the bottle and label. Margie also came up with the idea of the hand dipped wax top. All Makers Mark bottles are still hand dipped.

Bill Samuels Jr joined the family business in the 1970’s after a career in rocket science, apparently it does take a rocket scientist to make great whisky. It is said that the only advice his father gave him was: “don’t screw up the whisky”.
