NATHAN GILVEY
Class of 2022
Senior Nathan Gilvey has had four great years at North Hunterdon. Nathan’s favorite classes have been Chemistry, Biology, and Latin. He likes Chemistry and Biology as much as he does because Nathan is fascinated by knowing how things work. Being able to study the ways atoms in the universe build to make complex molecules, then cells, then entire organisms is truly an amazing experience. Being capable of understanding these things and applying that knowledge to the world is what Nathan enjoys the most. Which is also why he loves Latin. Nathan has learned much about the words we use every day, and understands grammar much better than before. Being able to apply these language skills to every single piece of his life is something he finds extremely satisfying. Nathan is currently a member of Math Honor Society, Science Honor Society, and Latin Honor Society, as well as Latin club. He enjoys tutoring students as a member of these societies and being around people who share a similar passion for these subjects. Nathan is a member of Troop 288 of the Boy Scouts of America. He is currently a Junior Assistant Scoutmaster after having served as the Senior Patrol Leader for a year. Nathan works at Metropolitan Seafood, where he has learned many skills about preparing seafood, and enjoys learning more about seafood every day he works there. He loves the people with whom he works because they are exceedingly kind and helpful. Next year, Nathan plans on attending Rutgers. He isn’t exactly sure what he wants to study, however he wants to study some sort of math or science. Nathan's favorite memories from North are about meeting spectacular people at school and enjoying his experiences with them through the years. Some of Nathan’s friends and teachers are people whom he is very grateful to have met and to have present in his life. Although school may get difficult at times, hard work and kindness pays off and makes high school an extremely rewarding experience. Nathan is happy with his experience at North.

She is a member of National Honor Society, Science Honor Society, Spanish Honor Society, National Technical Honor Society, and is the President of the Student Council. Her favorite memories from her four years at North are attending the school dances and all her Biomed classes and labs. She also volunteers at the information desk at Hunterdon Medical Center, works at Thee Ice Cream Parlor, and keeps herself busy babysitting and dog sitting. HUNTER PAULTER
Class of 2022
Senior Hunter Paulter has been playing basketball since he was in the fourth grade. Hunter’s strongest skill is his intensity. He plays with a lot of intensity during the games at the center position. Hunter also plays two other sports for the Lions. He plays football in the fall and is on the track and field team in the spring. Football is his favorite sport to watch when he is not playing any sports. Over the past four years, Hunter has made some unforgettable memories at North Hunterdon. He is very appreciative of the people who have made his time enjoyable. Hunter does not plan on playing any sport seriously in college, but does want to stay active in his free time. As of now, Hunter is deciding between attending Clemson University or Penn State University, but is looking closer at Clemson. He is planning to major in Industrial Engineering.

February is Teen Dating Violence Awareness Month. There’s a lot you can do as a parent to prevent teen dating violence and abuse.
About 1 in 10 teens who have been on a date have also been physically abused by a boyfriend or girlfriend in the last year. One of the most important things you can do is keep the lines of communication open with your kids.
Take steps to make a difference:
- Be a role model – treat your children and others with respect.
- Start talking to your children about healthy relationships early – before they start dating.
- If you are worried about your teen, call the loveisrespect helpline at 1-866-331-9474 or text “loveis” to 22522.
Click here for more information on this important topic from the "Futures without Violence" website.

The Model United Nations Club attended its annual conference in January 2022. While members all looked forward to attending the conference in person, like last year, this year’s conference was virtual. Although disappointed, members demonstrated their resilience and unwavering optimism by pivoting to a virtual conference at the last minute and making the most of their experience.
The success of this year’s conference would not have been possible without the preparation and dedication of each participant and especially conference leaders. This year, we were proud to have such leaders in seniors Danica Chakroborty, Oscar Gladysz, Samantha Muller, and Kyle Warta. As elected officers, Danica Chakroborty and Oscar Gladysz served as chairs of the World Health Organization and General Assembly Committees, respectively. Danica and Oscar worked tirelessly throughout the year preparing committee topics and participating in leadership training activities. At the conference, Danica and Oscar confidently led resolution debate and parliamentary procedure. Samantha Muller and Kyle Warta served as our club’s Youth Secretariats. As a Youth Secretariat, Samantha and Kyle served as liaisons between our club and the conference. Both Samantha and Kyle helped to pass on important information and helped prepare North Hunterdon delegates for the conference by leading our weekly meetings.
At the conference, North Hunterdon members received several awards and accolades. Juniors Oscar Gladyz, Zoe Jenkins-Hiscox, and Jordan Pai were elected as 2023 officers. Danica Chakroborty was awarded the highest elected student position of Secretary-General. As Secretary-General, Danica is responsible for training and enabling other elected student officers in preparation for the 2023 conference. For his standout performance in resolution debate, Kyle Warta received the honorary award of 2022 Premier Delegate. Megan Lawn, representing the country of Tanzania, received the award for Outstanding Country, and Jordan Pai, representing the country of Bosnia, was awarded Superior Country. Additionally, Danica Charkroborty and Jordan Pai were selected as delegates, and Kyle Warta as an alternate, for the YMCA Youth Conference on National Affairs. Lastly, North Hunterdon was recognized as an Outstanding Delegation.
Most impressively, all Model United Nation participants are recognized for their willingness to communicate with others from different schools and states to find solutions to world problems. They did so by honoring the Four Core Values of YMCA: caring, honesty, respect, and responsibility and working towards becoming the global leaders of tomorrow, today.

North Hunterdon High School’s Theater Organization will present the musical, Disney’s The Little Mermaid, on March 4 and 5 at 7:00pm and March 6 at 2:00pm. Our production is presented through special arrangement with Music Theater International (MTI). All authorized performance materials are also supplied by MTI. www.MTIshows.com.
Based on the Hans Christian Anderson story and the Disney film produced by Howard Ashman & John Musker and written & directed by John Musker & Ron Clements. Originally produced by Disney Theatrical Productions. With music by eight-time Academy Award winner, Alan Menken, lyrics by Howard Ashman and Glenn Slater, and a compelling book by Doug Wright, this fishy fable will capture your heart with its irresistible songs, including "Under the Sea," "Kiss the Girl" and "Part of Your World."
Ariel, King Triton's youngest daughter, wishes to pursue the human Prince Eric in the world above, bargaining with the evil sea witch, Ursula, to trade her tail for legs. But the bargain is not what it seems, and Ariel needs the help of her colorful friends, Flounder the fish, Scuttle the seagull, and Sebastian the crab to restore order under the sea. Add in some Mer-sisters, electric eels, and zaney gulls, and audiences are sure to enjoy North Hunterdon's production of Disney's The Little Mermaid!!

NHEF Grants in Action:
The NHEF proudly funded the redesign of classroom 240 to create an interactive learning environment for the Social Studies Department.
"The 21st classroom environment has immediately impacted cooperative learning/ team approach to education because the students view their table as a unit for solving problems. The table arrangement facilitates the teacher to move around the classroom and have small group discussions, where students feel more confident to participate due to the students being comfortable with the peers at their table and are distanced from other tables. We also can move students from viewing a virtual field trip to analysis of the trips connection to academic concepts."- Brian Maginnis
