We pray for the care of creation
Mysterious God, whose imagination and desire embrace all:
We seek to discern you in the interplay of forces,
in the order and the chaos of the universe,
and in the complexities of every living system.
Give us grace to honor your goodness
in what we know and in what we do not know,
in the world’s harmonies and turbulence,
and in its promise and change.
For you are in, through, and beyond all that is:
one God, made known to us in Jesus Christ,
through the Holy Spirit, our inspiration and guide. Amen.
We pray for those affected by disasters and war throughout the world. Holy One, you are our comfort and strength in times of sudden disaster, crisis, or chaos. Surround us now with your grace and peace through storm or earthquake, fire, or flood. By your Spirit, lift up those who have fallen, sustain those who work to rescue or rebuild, and fill us with the hope of your new creation; through you, our rock and redeemer. Amen.
We pray for refugees. God our Creator: We ask for your loving presence and for your peace to be with refugees in our local communities and around the world. Be with all who are in fear. Be with those whose lives and livelihoods are under threat, and whose religious freedoms are being compromised. Be with us as we strive to enact your will in our welcome and support of refugees. Be with those in positions of leadership, that their decisions may bend toward peace and not division, and that they might realize the power they hold to do justice. Give us all strength and courage. Equip and empower us to be witnesses to your love – as advocates and as servants, as ministers of welcome and bearers of hope, especially for those seeking refuge. In your Holy name we pray. Amen.
We pray for the hope and comfort of the Holy Spirit for those whose lives are overshadowed by illness or pain, for those whose lives are darkened by sorrow or bereavement, especially Annie, Ed, Gail, Kevyn, Nancy, Betty, Alan, Chuck, Jackie, Robin, Jennifer, Grace, Josiah, Ann, Mark, Joan, Georgia, Richard, Josh, Jack, Susan, Alexis, Dena, George, Peyton, Elizabeth & Savvy, Dan, and Jon. Thanks be to God for the healing that has taken place. Amen.
We pray for peace. Let there be peace, O God, for those in need; for those who are frightened, for those who have been displaced, for those who are ill, for those who need work. Let there be peace, O God, for all of us who are tempted to give in to fear and despair. Let there be peace in our time; And let it begin with us. Amen.
God of mercy and compassion, of grace and reconciliation, pour your power upon all your children in the Middle East: Jews, Muslims and Christians, Palestinians and Israelis. Let hatred be turned into love, fear to trust, despair to hope, oppression to freedom, occupation to liberation, that violent encounters may be replaced by loving embraces, and peace and justice could be experienced by all. Amen.
God, our refuge and strength, bring near the day when wars shall cease and poverty and pain shall end, that earth may know the peace of heaven through Jesus Christ our Lord.
Amen.
We pray for our church community. Creator God, thank you that you are faithful to fulfill all your promises. You have said that you dwell in the hearts of your people through the presence of your Holy Spirit. When your church gathers together, you are in the midst of us. Hear our prayer and strengthen your church, Lord. You are the God of peace. May you sanctify us completely, and may our whole spirit and soul and body be kept blameless at the coming of the Lord Jesus Christ. You, who called us, are faithful to the end. Through Jesus Christ, our Lord,Amen.
