Right now 499 Lake County children live in the chaotic, uncertain world of the child welfare system. Many of them face this experience while carrying the traumatic scars of abuse or neglect. On average, it will be 32 months before their case concludes, and often they will feel like they have no one to rely on or trust.
Enter a CASA Volunteer Advocate.
Through these dedicated people, CASA provides Lake County children in foster care with specially trained volunteers to be a source of support and a voice of advocacy.
The presence of our community volunteers helps to minimize chances that children will experience re-abuse while they are in the foster care system. But most importantly -- our volunteers are an unconditional and consistent presence for their CASA children.
Youth facing the fear and trauma of being removed from home can easily go down the wrong path, but with regular in-person visits and a stable relationship with a caring and trusted CASA volunteer, every one of them also holds the potential for a success story.
The month of April is both Child Abuse Prevention Month and Volunteer Appreciation Month. We are so grateful to all of our 254 volunteers who so selflessly give of their time and energy to support children.
Will you help us to continue to ensure that every child in foster care in Lake County can have the consistent and unconditional support from a CASA volunteer?
