  • 6:45 a.m., Queensgate shopping center (rear of theatre), York

Marjorie Merri-weather Post bought Hillwood in 1955 and decided her home would be a museum that would inspire and educate the public. Her northwest Washington, D.C. estate features the most comprehensive collection of Russian imperial art outside of Russia; a distinguished 18th-Century French decorative art collection; and 25 acres of serene landscaped gardens and natural woodlands for all to enjoy. We’ll have an elegant three-course luncheon here as well.

Lastly, we'll visit the U.S. Botanic Garden that are steeped in history, rich with tradition. The garden is a living plant museum that informs visitors about the importance and, often irreplaceable, value of plants to the wellbeing of humans and earth's fragile ecosystems.

We depart for home at 5 p.m. with a rest and meal stop on your own.

Review: Sugar Plums and Teas

A Cozy Escape in Lancaster County

Nestled in the charming countryside of Lancaster County, Sugar Plums and Teas offers a perfect blend of warmth and elegance. On a rainy Saturday morning, we stepped into this lovely tea room and were immediately embraced by its inviting atmosphere. The selection of teas was exceptional, catering to both connoisseurs and casual tea drinkers alike. Each cup was brewed to perfection, enhancing the cozy ambiance of the day.

The service was top-notch, with the staff going above and beyond to ensure that everyone had a wonderful time. Despite the rain outside, the warm interiors and attention to detail made it feel like a haven of comfort. Whether you're seeking a peaceful escape or a special gathering place, Sugar Plums and Teas delivers a fabulous experience. I'd highly recommend it for an outing with friends.
