Fiscal Year 2027 Budget Unanimously Approved

This week, the Prince George’s and Montgomery County Councils unanimously approved WSSC Water’s FY 2027 $1.9 billion operating and capital budget which invests in projects that deliver safe, clean water for our 1.9 million customers while prioritizing affordability.

The budget includes $10.6 million in financial assistance for income‑constrained customers, a 20 percent increase over last year.

Supported by a 5 percent average revenue enhancement, which includes volumetric and fixed fees, the FY 2027 budget focuses on essential priorities such as protecting public health, operating and maintaining $9 billion in critical infrastructure, complying with stricter federal and state water quality regulations, and maintaining WSSC Water’s AAA bond rating.

The Emergency Customer Relief Fund launched with $2.4 million in December 2025 and has already helped more than 3,900 customers, each receiving up to $750 in assistance. Now, only about $150,000 remains. Funds are going fast, so eligible customers are encouraged to act now. Assistance is available on a first-come, first-served basis.
