Homecoming Honoree

At our homecoming assembly last Friday, we honored Dr. Doug DiOrio ’86, one of our team physicians. For the past 29 years, Dr. DiOrio has spent countless hours caring for Bishop Watterson athletes during after-school clinic hours or on the sidelines at athletic events. Dr. DiOrio, himself an athlete who played on Notre Dame’s 1988 National Championship football team, said the impact of his years as a student here instilled in him the desire to give back to BWHS. We are grateful to Dr. DiOrio for his dedication!

Homecoming Court

Congratulations to our 2026 Homecoming Court! Each senior was nominated by a classmate and anonymously selected by a panel of faculty members for our 2026 Homecoming Court. They were nominated and selected because their peers and the staff believe that they represent the best of Bishop Watterson.

Sophomores & Juniors Take PSAT/NMSQT

Sophomores and juniors will be taking the PSAT/NMSQT on Wednesday, October 7. Students must be in uniform in their assigned rooms by 7:45 a.m. Students who are late may not be permitted in the room to take the exam and this will be counted as an unexcused absence. Room assignments will be sent to the students' bwhs.org emails along with information pertinent to test day.

Sophomores and juniors will be dismissed around 11:00 a.m. Students who have extended time accommodations may finish by noon. Busing information will be shared with bus riders.

Freshman Day of Reflection

The Freshman Day of Reflection is planned for Wednesday, October 8, at Bishop Watterson during the school day. Attendance at this retreat is a requirement so please keep this in mind when scheduling appointments.

This is a day to build our Catholic School community and come to know ourselves as deeply loved by God and called to share that love. The retreat will be facilitated by senior leaders, along with Campus Minister Mrs. Beth Simmonds and several teachers.

Freshmen will arrive at the normal school time and check in at tables in the Dominican Hall lobby. They may dress down according to school guidelines. Snacks and water will be provided but students with allergies or food sensitivities can bring a snack.

Freshmen will be dismissed at 11:30 a.m.

During the retreat, we will complete a service project for Run the Race Club. With that in mind, we are asking freshman to bring the following items October 5-6:

Homerooms 107, 108, 109, 110, 111: a bag of Halloween candy

Homerooms 112, 113, 114: a box of fruit snacks

Homerooms 115, 116: a box of granola bars

Email Bishop Watterson Campus Minister Beth Simmonds with any questions, mrs.simmonds@bwhs.org.

Health Office

When students are sick and need to go home, our nurse, Mrs. Friend, will have them call a parent from the school phone in the health office. It has been noted that parents frequently do not answer because the number shows up as a potential spam call.

Parents: please add Bishop Watterson’s main phone number, (614) 267-8671, to your contacts so that calls from the school display as Bishop Watterson on your phone screen.

Mothers’ Club Corner

Mothers' Club will be hosting a faculty and staff luncheon on Friday, October 9. To volunteer at the luncheon or donate items click here.

Sophomore and Junior Families

Students will be taking the PSAT exam on Wednesday, October 7. Students are receiving a test prep session in classrooms this week to gain insight into the test and access to a resource page on Schoology. Students will also sign into BlueBook, the platform on which they will take the PSAT. Over the next two weeks, students should continue familiarizing themselves with practice questions on Bluebook. Students interested in additional test prep are encouraged to use Khan Academy.

Columbus Suburban College Fair

Students and families of all grades are invited to attend the Columbus Suburban College Fair on Sunday, October 11, from 1:00-3:00 p.m. at Otterbein University. This is an opportunity to speak directly with admissions representatives from approximately 200 colleges. Bishop Watterson is a sponsoring school for the event.
