Through the lens of several descendants, this 23-minute long film draws a century-long thread from the Tulsa Race Massacre of 1921 to the present, exploring the lingering economic, psychological and emotional impacts that have undermined the rebuilding of a once thriving Black community.
North Tulsa’s Greenwood District, also known as Black Wall Street, was once the most prosperous Black community in America. During a few days in 1921 Greenwood was set ablaze, bombed, and looted during a racially motivated violent attack. Businesses, homes, and lives were lost, and Black Wall Street has never reclaimed its former glory.
