RE:
Major adjustment of USA Skål Club insurance coverage
I'm announcing a major change in the Group Insurance Coverage available to all USA Skål clubs which is the result of a review process which has occurred over the past 8 weeks or so.
While the Group Insurance policy options for Crime plus Officers & Directors coverage has not changed, the Executive Committee recently approved the replacement of the General Liability policy with the attached Accident & Health policy. The major benefits of this policy are:
Annual Participant Accident Coverage
Covers ALL Skål USA members (even those who join during the year) while participating in any DOMESTIC SKÅL USA meeting or "sponsored" activities.
The Berkley company is a highly insurer - A+ (Superior) AM Best rating.
What's included?
$10,000 Accidental Death and Dismemberment (Policy Max: $250,000)
$25,000 Accidental Medical Expense and Dental Expense ($0 Deductible)
What's excluded?
Any alcohol or drug related injuries or accidents.
Travel outside of the USA
Medical coverage is "excess", meaning it's secondary to primary medical insurance. However, a primary insurance deductible or co-pay could potentially be claimed under this policy, making a member whole.
Benefits to Members
Provides "peace of mind" to local club board members as it significantly reduces the club's liability and chances of being sued if a member is hurt at a club meeting or event.
THE REALLY BIG DEAL
The Executive Committee of Skål USA elected to pay the annual premium from General Membership Funds and make this particular insurance coverage an additional benefit of membership for every Skål USA Club member.
A 2ND opportunity for clubs to participate in the Crime and Directors & Officers Group Insurance plans
Because of General Liability coverage being replaced by the Accident & Health policy without charge to the clubs,
ALL USA SKÅL CLUBS have the opportunity to reconsider if they wish to participate in the Group Coverage options for the Crime plus Directors & Officers policies are described below.
Because the current coverage for all policies was actually to become effective back 01 September,
we must receive your decision to participate as a club on or before Close Of Business next Monday, 23 September so we may submit the names of participating clubs to the underwriters before they refuse to renew these policies.
Please send your response to our Skål Administrators at
skalusadmin@skalusa.org or just by clicking on "Reply" to this email notice. (Please refrain from clicking on "Reply All.")
Directors & Officers (D&O) coverage is $6,978 for 2019/2020 (anticipated to average $178.93 per club if the same number of clubs participate).
Crime coverage is estimated to be $2,576 for 2019/2020 (anticipated to average $66.06 per club if the same number of clubs participate).
Again,
before next Monday, 23 September, please let both Skål USA's Administrators and me know if you do, or do not, wish to participate in this coverage for September 1, 2019 - August 31, 2020 by just clicking on "Reply."
Of course, please don't hesitate to reach out to me via email (
Alton.Hagen@SkalUSA.org) or telephone (913.268.4466) should you have any questions or wish additional information.
Sincerely,
Alton Hagen, CMP, DMCP
