Grants Committee: A Season of Impact and Gratitude
As we bring Season 9 to a close, we extend our sincere thanks to each of you. Your generosity, enthusiasm, and commitment make it possible for Impact100 Martin to provide transformational grants that strengthen our community.
A special thank you goes to the women who served on the Grants Committee. You immersed yourselves in letters of intent, grant applications, financial reviews, committee discussions, and site visits. Through thoughtful analysis and careful consideration, you helped bring exceptional projects forward for Impact100 Martin members to review and ultimately select as grant recipients. We are deeply grateful for the dedication, talent, and care you invested in this important work.
As we look ahead to the impact of our Season 9 grants, we are also celebrating the accomplishments of our Season 8 grant recipients, who are now wrapping up their projects. Their work is a powerful reminder of what can be achieved when women come together with a shared vision for our community.
Be sure to watch for the July newsletter, where we will share final reports from our Season 8 grant recipients and highlight the outcomes, successes, and stories made possible through your support.
Thank you for another remarkable season of giving, learning, and making a difference together. We are pleased to pass the torch to Karen Homer and Samia Ferraro as the incoming Grant Co-Chairs and look forward to all that Season 10 will bring.
With gratitude,
Joan Gibbons and Kelly McIntyre

Looking Ahead to Season 10
Your Membership Committee is hard at work this summer preparing for an exciting Season 10!
A special thank you to Dawn Comer (Sewall’s Point), who has stepped into a leadership role supporting our team of 16 Community Captains. Our membership is organized into 16 geographic communities, and these dedicated volunteers play a vital role in keeping members engaged, encouraging renewals, and welcoming new members through Meet & Mingles and other outreach efforts throughout the year. Thank you, Dawn, for helping strengthen these important connections across our community.
We are also pleased to announce that Kallie Jurgens will lead our new Welcome Circle Committee. The goal of this committee is to ensure that every new member receives a warm and meaningful introduction to Impact100 Martin. From a personal welcome and a New Member Bag with a name tag, to an invitation to a Welcome Circle orientation and the New Member Reception each spring, this committee will help our newest members feel informed, connected, and engaged from day one.
If you would like to help Kallie and her team create an exceptional experience for new members, please contact her at kalliejurgens@icloud.com.
Scholarship Committee Volunteers Needed
We are pleased to announce that Michelle Katzman (Palm City South) has graciously accepted the leadership of our Scholarship Committee!
Michelle and her team will focus on expanding awareness of our scholarship and gifted membership opportunities by attracting more qualified applicants and encouraging members and local businesses to support the program through donations. The committee will also review applications, conduct interviews, and track recipients throughout the year to ensure program commitments are being fulfilled.
There are several ways to get involved:
- Help market the scholarship program to potential applicants and donors.
- Assist with reviewing applications and interviewing candidates.
- Support ongoing communication and stewardship of scholarship recipients.
If you are interested in serving on this important committee, please contact Michelle at mkatzman@bellsouth.net.
Renew Today
Membership renewal is now open, and we encourage you to renew early as we prepare for another impactful year of collective giving. If you are unsure of your renewal date, contact info@impact100martin.org.

Kathy Miller
The energy behind Impact100’s expanding membership in the Hobe Sound/South Martin County community originates with their Community Captain, Kathy Miller. She and a friend learned about Impact100 through Wendy Steele and decided to attend a Meet & Mingle here. Their interest caught, they joined. Three years later, Kathy has hosted a unique Meet & Mingle herself, inviting one of our grant recipients plus a friend who was starting a chapter in Connecticut. The Membership Committee representatives and Kathy were convincing, and five people joined that day. Kathy plans on hosting another event this year.
Those who know her are not surprised. This dynamic woman began her career as a CPA, then transitioned into the computer software industry, serving as a CFO and COO. While she is now “retired”, her husband believes that is a misnomer since she currently serves on four corporate boards, chairing one board and chairing the Audit Committee on three others. She also volunteers at the Jupiter Inlet Lighthouse and Museum.
Kathy and her husband spend half the year in Hobe Sound and half in northern Georgia (where she raised her son and daughter), and they stay active with boating, cycling, pickleball, golf, and their two Coton de Tulear dogs. They also find time to indulge in another interest – they travel! In addition, Kathy practices Tai Chi and is a gym enthusiast.
While we aren’t sure how Kathy fits her involvement in Impact100 Martin into her schedule, we are delighted to have this proactive and engaging woman in our membership.

Impact100 Martin Nature Club Enjoys Blowing Rocks Preserve Tour & Lunch
On Saturday, May 16, 2026, 15 Impact100 Martin members gathered for the Nature Club outing at Blowing Rocks Preserve in Hobe Sound. Equipped with water bottles, sunscreen, hats, and sunglasses, the group enjoyed beautiful weather while exploring the preserve with two outstanding tour guides who shared fascinating information about the area's unique ecosystems and conservation efforts.
The group experienced several of the preserve’s scenic trails, including the elevated Mangrove Boardwalk, which winds through a mangrove forest and offers beautiful views of the Indian River Lagoon. Members also explored portions of the Lagoon Trail, observing salt marsh and coastal strand habitats, and enjoyed the Dune Trail, where sweeping ocean views from atop the beach dunes showcased the natural beauty of Jupiter Island. Along the way, participants learned about native plants, wildlife, shoreline habitats, and the important role these ecosystems play in protecting Florida’s coast.
Following the hike, seven members gathered for lunch at Citron Bistro in Hobe Sound. The fresh and flavorful menu was the perfect complement to the morning’s outdoor adventure. Two members enjoyed sharing different quiches, sampling half of each for a delicious variety of flavors, while others raved about a beet salad that was simply unforgettable. Sparkling flavored beverages added a festive touch as the group relaxed together on the restaurant’s cool, breezy covered patio, continuing conversations and strengthening friendships formed through Impact100 Martin.
While some members lingered over lunch, others headed off to enjoy the rest of their day, including golfing and other activities. The event provided a wonderful opportunity for both new and longtime members, as well as guests to connect, learn, and enjoy one of Martin County’s natural treasures together. Thank you to Karen Hermanson for organizing this spectacular event with The Nature Conservancy.

Volunteer Help Wanted
The Member Engagement Committee is looking for a passionate volunteer leader to serve as the project lead/coordinator for designing and launching our brand-new Impact100 Martin Day of Giving, a series of volunteer work sessions in support of our various non-profit Grant Recipients. The timing is right to reintroduce this idea, given the member survey results, which indicated a desire for more opportunities to volunteer in person with grant recipients.
If you have great organizational skills and a heart for connecting people with local causes, help us activate this impactful new program! If interested or want to learn more, contact Debbie Adams, Committee Co-chair, by phone or text at 214-683-1702 or by email dsadams123@gmail.com.
