For more than 50 years, AAMA has helped Latinos achieve their potential.
We motivated youth to finish school and encouraged many to go on to college. We taught immigrant adults to communicate in English and have guided scores of them to gain the knowledge they need to become contributing United States citizens. We prepared them to enter workforce development courses and secure livable wage jobs. We helped both youth and adults break the cycle of addiction and make positive choices that improve the quality of their lives.
AAMA has empowered men, women and children to pursue their dreams and inspired leaders within the community. AAMA strives to help all Latinos be truly AAMAzing.

Volunteers with TechnipFMC Revitalize ECC
|
Volunteers from TechnipFMC recently banded together for a hands-on project aimed at refreshing the walls of AAMA's Early Childhood Center. The collaborative effort not only gave the center a new look but also revitalized its atmosphere, creating an inviting space for young learners.
Volunteers worked diligently to refresh the center's surroundings and their efforts resulted in a noticeable transformation, making the space more vibrant and inviting for children to explore and learn.
The staff and administration expressed their gratitude for the volunteers' hard work and commitment. Their generosity not only improved the appearance of the center but also reinforced its importance within the community.
Alicia Welch, chair of TechnipFMC's CEO Action for Racial Equity program, said "the day spent with the AAMA staff, TechnipFMC employees and our families was incredibly special, to see us all come together for a common purpose and do something good for these wonderful children was beautiful to see. We were so happy to be part of this amazing event, our volunteer hearts are full!"
The volunteers involved demonstrated the power of community collaboration in making a tangible difference and serves as a testament to the generosity of the Greater Houston community. Thank you to United Way of Greater Houston for their support in forging the collaboration.

Celebrating Women's History Month: AAMA Highlights Diverse Women Voices and Stories
|
|
As we commemorate Women's History Month, it's essential to recognize and celebrate the myriad of voices and stories that enrich our world. At AAMA, we take pride in amplifying the voices of diverse women, showcasing their achievements, and sharing their inspiring narratives.
Last week marked a special occasion as we welcomed Sarah Mughal Rana to speak with the students of the GIS-South. Sarah, a young Muslim author and prominent figure on "BookTok," graced us with her presence. Currently pursuing her graduate studies at Oxford University, Sarah has already left an indelible mark on the literary world.
Among her notable works is "My Big Fat Desi Wedding," a captivating exploration of love and culture that resonates deeply with readers. However, it's her most recent publication, "Hope Ablaze," that truly captures the essence of her identity and experiences. Through this poignant narrative, Sarah celebrates her Islamic faith and Pakistani heritage, offering readers a glimpse into her world and the rich tapestry of her culture.
| |
|
Sarah's visit not only provided invaluable insights into the creative process but also served as a powerful reminder of the importance of representation in literature. Her unwavering dedication to sharing her unique perspective fosters greater understanding and appreciation for cultural diversity.
As we continue to honor Women's History Month, let us reaffirm our commitment to uplifting the voices of women from all walks of life. Each story, each experience, contributes to the rich tapestry of our collective history, and it's through embracing diversity that we pave the way for a brighter, more inclusive future.

AAMA's Early Childhood Center Currently Enrolling
|
At AAMA's Early Childhood Center, we're constantly seeking ways to enhance our services, enrich children's lives, and support families in our community.
AAMA's Early Childhood Center isn't just growing in size; it's growing in impact. Teachers are trained by United Way Bright Beginnings and are NAEYC accredited, allowing them to apply up-to-date early development teaching practices on a daily basis. By reaching more families and connecting with students, we can extend our support network, offer our exceptional early childhood education to a broader audience, and make a meaningful difference in the lives of even more children.
The journey towards a happy and healthy childhood is filled with possibilities, and we're thrilled to embark on this adventure with you. As we move forward, our commitment to providing exceptional early childhood education and support remains unwavering. Together, we'll continue to nurture the bright futures of our children and build a stronger, more vibrant community.
