| | Future Technicians Shine at Automotive Competition | | |
SBCSS and the San Bernardino Valley College (SBVC) Applied Technology Department hosted the first-ever Automotive Pre-Apprenticeship Student Competition at SBVC’s state-of-the-art Applied Technology Building. During the event, students put their transportation pathway training to the test, rotating through hands-on stations including vehicle inspection, precision measurements, circuit building, and tire balancing.
Summit High School earned the title of top performing school. Top individual honors went to Yucaipa High School’s Everett Spaid and Summit High School’s Zane Herron and Michael Roldan.
Beyond the competition, students networked with employers, apprenticeship leaders and college faculty, exploring real-world opportunities in the automotive field. With strong industry support, this milestone event highlighted the next generation of skilled automotive technicians.

The 10th Annual Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS) Showcase celebrated an impressive 382 schools across San Bernardino County that were honored by the state for implementing PBIS with fidelity.
PBIS transforms school culture by teaching positive behaviors, celebrating student success, and developing supportive communities. Schools that implement these evidence-based practices experience improved academic performance, reduced disciplinary issues, and a stronger overall school climate.
Special recognition goes to our platinum schools for exemplary implementation, our gold schools for demonstrating strong positive impacts, our silver schools for making significant progress, and our bronze schools for building solid foundations for future success!
| Students Launch Round One of County Mock Trial Competition | |
The 2025 San Bernardino Countywide Mock Trial competitions have officially begun, as students faced off in Round One. From Rancho Cucamonga to Victorville to San Bernardino, student attorneys showcased impressive advocacy skills, presenting compelling arguments and demonstrating civic education at its best.
By stepping into the roles of attorneys and witnesses, students gained a deeper understanding of the justice system while building critical thinking, public speaking and analytical skills that will support them throughout their lives. Their preparation, professionalism and dedication are setting them up for success in the future rounds that will be happening early next year.
| Employee Connection Hosts Thanksgiving Food Drive to Support Local Families | | |
Thanks to the generosity of our staff and Stater Bros. Markets, SBCSS wrapped up our annual Thanksgiving Food Drive with great success! Our Employee Connection team, a dedicated group of volunteers from across our County Schools administrative sites, helped gather donations to support families of students in need.
Understanding the challenges many families face, these baskets were meant to ease a small burden during the holiday season. Together, we provided 400 Thanksgiving dinner baskets, each filled with staples like stuffing, mashed potatoes, green beans, jello, and more! When we offer compassion, service and the comfort of a shared meal, we strengthen our community and build connections that uplift every member.
