Project Update: CWP’s Online Watershed Library Gets a Refresh

The Center for Watershed Protection recently updated its Online Watershed Library (OWL). The new site contains over 1,800 publications, tools, and other learning materials on watershed and stormwater management.

CWPA Member Spotlight: In-Situ

Monitoring water levels in open channels and stormwater systems can be challenging, and In-Situ’s latest webinar walks through practical ways to get more reliable data. In the webinar, In-Situ Product Manager Brittany Jenner and Chris Davis of Lower 48 Instruments share insights from a stormwater project where the Level TROLL® NC was used to assess watershed impacts before upstream construction. They cover site and instrument selection, using level as a proxy for flow, and key lessons from working in open-channel environments. You can watch the full webinar and learn more about non-contact radar, stormwater flow monitoring, and related tools on their website below.

CWPA Member Spotlight: Civil & Environmental Consultants

Civil & Environmental Consultants, Inc. wants to remind you that sustaining relationships with former employees can lead to future work (in a good way 😉)!

Cole Liggett worked as an ecologist for Civil & Environmental Consultants, Inc. for more than eight years. Today, he is practicing stream & wetland mitigation banking across the state of Tennessee with Headwaters Reserve, LLC.

Cedar Forest Mitigation Bank, located in Wilson County, TN, completed construction this past spring, and #CECinc surveyed, designed, and will continue to assist with monitoring of the site for the upcoming seven years. Nearly 50 acres of the site have been dedicated with a conservation easement, meaning that Cedar Forest will be permanently protected from any type of development and managed strictly for conservation purposes! Not only was approximately 10,000 linear feet of stream restored and protected, but a past-employee turned client was sustained through personal business relationships.

CWP Making Strides To Advance The KC Regional Water Workforce Initiative

The Center for Watershed Protection and our partners are making great strides to advance the Kansas City Regional Water Workforce Initiative, an EPA-funded project to accelerate career tracks in the water utilities sector by expanding stormwater and green infrastructure training and workforce opportunities.

In partnership with MARC, Metropolitan Community College, Bridging the Gap, and GroundworkNRG, we are working to strengthen the region’s water workforce. Current efforts include a literature review on national and regional stormwater workforce trends and the development of training modules designed to enhance understanding of green stormwater infrastructure maintenance and support local job readiness.

Stay tuned for more updates as this collaboration continues to grow!
