“The way a team plays as a whole, determines its success.
You may have the greatest bunch of individual stars in the world,
but if they don't play together,
the club won't be worth a dime.”
Babe Ruth
Dear Southern Door Community
The above quote is fitting for this coming week in a number of ways. Just as we have reason to celebrate the accomplishments of our fall co-curricular teams, the success of another season of our community’s Haunted Mansion, or the excitement of the “team” preparing for the upcoming high school musical, we realize that while talent is important, it is teamwork which brings about success for both the team and its individuals.
This coming week, with the first of our Parent Teacher Conferences, we recognize the most important team we have here at Southern Door - parents and staff working together as partners for our students’ success. We look forward to strengthening that partnership with our parents, who are the most important people in their children’s lives. Our conversations about their strengths and their needs are critical to ensuring that together, we help every child reach their potential.
Together We Are Eagle Proud and Eagle Strong!
Patti

We loved hearing about Beauty and the Beast and how the two students have developed their musical and acting talents over the years through their roles in the high school musicals. Performances are November 7-10. Tickets for Beauty and the Beast go on sale on October 14 on the auditorium website or from one of the school offices.

"DO IT FOR DANIEL" - OCTOBER 22
6-8PM STURGEON BAY AUDITORIUM
"Do it for Daniel" is a documentary of Daniel Olson's struggles with anxiety and depression, which ultimately led him to take his life at age 19. Daniel was an all-state athlete from Ishpeming High School in rural Ishpeming, Michigan. Daniel was an overachiever, and an all-around great guy who loved to help people. He was devoted to his family and friends, and was a beloved member of the community. "Do It For Daniel" includes a showing of the film, followed by a discussion with Daniel’s father, Jeff Olson.
The goal of this presentation is to have a conversation regarding mental health and suicide. Mental health issues, and suicide, continue to have an immense impact on our community. By lessening the stigma associated with talking about mental health, we hope to make it easier for those suffering to get the help they may need.
