BUDDY MINISTRY INTEREST MEETING

Porter Preschool and Kids Ministries are hosting a two hour training for our church staff, teachers, and volunteers focused on supporting children with special needs. We have the opportunity to partner with Marshall Pediatric Therapy to provide this training.

This training is not about turning church volunteers into therapists. Instead, it is about providing practical tools, strategies, and understanding so our volunteers feel prepared when a child needs additional support.

Dessert and drinks will be provided. There will not be childcare.

PURE RELIGION SUNDAY

Porter will celebrate Pure Religion Sunday (formerly Orphan Sunday), on November 8. This is a day of unity for all believers to reflect God’s heart for the orphaned and vulnerable. Representatives from Orphan Care Alliance will be on site for those interested in learning more about fostering and adoption.

KIDS WORSHIP

Sunday, November 1st will be our next Family First Sunday. This means that all kids, 1st - 5th grade, will worship with their families in the worship center. All kids should be picked up at the conclusion of Life Group this Sunday.

In November, we will continue mirroring the main service by learning from the book of Philippians, as well as kicking off Advent.

LIFE GROUP

In the month of November, we will be studying Jesus Brings Life in the Gospels. Jesus performed miracles that provided He is the Son of God. These miracles strengthened people's faith, met their needs, and displayed His power over dead. Through Jesus, God did what is impossible for us to do on our own: He provided forgiveness, salvation, and eternal life.

Big Picture Question: Why do we need to be born again? Because of sin, we are spiritually dead, but Jesus came to give us new life.

Memory Verse: "Jesus said to her, "I am the resurrection and the life. The one who believes in me, even if he dies, will live." John 11:25

VOLUNTEER HIGHLIGHT

This month, we’re excited to highlight Sarah Belcher, who found Porter while attending the University of Kentucky after moving to Lexington from Colorado. Sarah works as an Instructional Assistant in Woodford County Schools, and her experience working with kids shines through in the many ways she has served at Porter.

She has served in Kids Worship, Wednesday nights, and as a Life Group floater. Sarah has also gone above and beyond in special events, chaperoning Kids Camp and serving as a VBS Group Leader.

We’re so thankful Sarah found Porter—and even more thankful that she has chosen to invest her time, gifts, and heart in helping the next generation know and love Jesus!

RESOURCE OF THE MONTH

Our November resource is The Good News Family Devotional: 52 Weeks Through the Gospel of Mark by Michael and Melissa Kruger. If you are like most parents, you may struggle to find the time to read the Bible for yourself, much less the time to instruct and train your children. That’s exactly why Michael and Melissa Kruger wrote The Good News Family Devotional. For each chapter in this 52-week journey through Jesus’s life, you’ll read a devotion written specifically for moms and dads, preparing you for your family discussion while encouraging your own study of Scripture. Then, you’ll find a clear, customizable guide for walking your children through this passage, along with specific questions for both younger and older children to engage the whole family, a one-sentence Big Idea for the Week that will aid your children’s memory and retention of key themes, and a family application question and closing prayer to help bring Christ’s teachings into your daily life together. Written for ordinary families with full schedules, this flexible, Christ-centered guide will help you engage your children with consistency and purpose. Let your hearts be refreshed each day as you meditate on the life and ministry of Jesus together.

As always, you can find resources like this and more

in the Book Nook in the Check In Area.
