Jefferson County Approved to Move to Phase 2 of the Governor's Roadmap to Recovery Plan
Beginning next Monday, February 15th, Jefferson County will enter into Phase 2 of Governor Inslee's Roadmap to Recovery!

What does that mean?

  • In Phase 2, restaurants and indoor fitness centers can reopen indoor dining at 25% occupancy.

  • Sports competitions may also resume in Phase 2 with limited spectators. Local school districts are determining their individual rules.

  • Wedding and funeral ceremonies are also able to increase capacity.

Jefferson County's COVID cases have been in the moderate range recently which means we have one of the lowest case rates in the state, along with Clallam and San Juan Counties.

The Governor's regionalized evaluation system put Jefferson and Clallam Counties into a region with Kitsap and Mason Counties, which have had dramatically higher case rates. This prevented us from being able to open our restaurants and fitness centers earlier along with other regions, and drew strong reproach from our state representatives and local elected leaders.

To advance from Phase 1 to Phase 2, our region (Jefferson, Clallam, Kitsap and Mason) had to show a 10% decreasing trend in case rates; a 10% decrease in COVID hospital admission rates; an ICU occupancy rate that’s less than 90%; and a test positivity rate of less than 10%.
