Community makes the difference, and it's driving our Spring Campaign toward our goal of raising $50,000 to help rebuild lives. This month, you'll meet the people proving it: a housing navigator deepening her support for clients, a survivor who kept calling, and longtime partners showing up when it matters most.

SPRING CAMPAIGN UPDATE

A Voice on the Other End

Only $4,678 remains to unlock our full $25,000 Board Match goal before June 15th. Every dollar given today will be matched. Can we count on you to help close the gap for survivors and their children?

When Elena reached out to My Sister’s Place after seeing our hotline number on a bench, she felt scared and uncertain about where to turn. But both times she called, a decade apart, someone was there to answer.

"No conditions. No judgment. A counselor, a financial coach, and a workforce development coach each met me where I was. Everything was explained clearly.

'You don’t have to figure this out alone. We’ll walk through this with you.' And MSP did exactly as promised.

Today I live alone in an apartment where only I hold the key."

—Elena, MSP Survivor and Advocate

Your gift keeps that support going long after the first call.

PROGRAM SPOTLIGHT

Building Safer Housing Pathways: New Certification Supporting Clients

MSP recently hosted its first Landlord Partnership Luncheon, organized by Housing Navigator Dominique, to unite and celebrate housing partners helping secure safe homes for MSP families across Washington, DC.

We’re also proud to share that Dominique, MSP’s Housing Navigator, recently became certified as an NSPIRE (National Standards for the Physical Inspection of Real Estate) and NSPIRE-V housing inspector through HUD. This certification strengthens MSP’s ability to prioritize health and safety and advocate for high-quality housing for the families we serve.

That commitment to safe, stable housing carries through every step of the journey–from building relationships with landlords to helping families settle into homes where they can begin rebuilding their futures. After securing housing through MSP and the RISE program, one client shared with Dominique:

“I am so grateful to My Sister’s Place for accepting me, and I also want to thank the RISE program for accepting me afterward. My children and I love our new place. I will continue to move forward and never look back.”

Ahead of Mother’s Day, Accenture employees assembled more than 40 newborn baby baskets filled with essentials for families in MSP’s emergency housing program. This thoughtful event helped welcome and support the many new mothers residing with MSP.

Accenture also awarded MSP a $2,250 grant for MSP’s workforce development program to support survivors in their pursuit of employment, financial stability, and long-term independence.

Thank you to Accenture for renewing your commitment to survivors and to the employees who helped create Mother’s Day baskets for the families in our emergency housing program.

COMMUNITY PARTNER SPOTLIGHT

Zonta Club of Washington, D.C. Foundation

This month, MSP was grateful to connect with members of the Zonta Club of Washington, D.C. Foundation, longtime advocates for women and girls.

For more than a century, Zonta International has championed women’s and girls’ rights and supported organizations addressing domestic violence and housing insecurity. Recently, Zonta members advocated for MSP and other domestic violence providers by submitting testimony opposing proposed cuts to the District’s victim services funding.

We are fortunate to have community partners like Zonta who continue using their voices to support survivors and strengthen resources for women and families throughout the DC region.
