Dear Friends,
1 Timothy 5:1–6:2 is our text for this Sunday, and a stimulating text it is. Think about the people God used to shape your faith. For most of us, a face comes to mind before a lesson does. Someone taught us. Someone kept showing up. Paul knew this. In Chapter 4 he told Timothy, "Train yourself to be godly." In Chapter 5, that training takes on faces. The people in front of us are not interruptions to ministry — they are the ministry. Godliness is not only what happens when I open my Bible; it is also what happens when I close it and speak to the person in front of me.
Join me as we experience the joy of discovery, learning about discipleship from one generation to another. This is also the Sunday we are bringing in new members, and celebrating the sacrament of baptism. It can’t get any better than this. I look forward to seeing you!
