The Leading Edge: Q1 - 2024

From our President

By: Chris Vandersluis

Well the year has started off here at HMS with a bang. We started with a review of 2023 that was our largest year ever! That coupled with an ongoing shift to recurring revenue was great news. We were right in the middle of the TimeControl 8.5 upgrade. The on-premise version shipped in mid-December and we started January with upgrading all the TimeControl Online servers for TimeControl Online, TimeControl Industrial Online and TimeControl Project. Our development attention has now shifted to TimeControl 8.6 and beyond.

It is, without a doubt an exciting year already. It is TimeControl's 30th anniversary so expect us to make some noise about that later in the year and it is HMS Software's 40th anniversary about which we are very proud.

TimeControl Development now turns to 8.6

By: TimeControl Development

With the TimeControl 8.5 launch in December for on-premise systems and the upgrade of all our TimeControl Online, TimeControl Industrial Online and TimeControl Project servers updated in the cloud in January, the TimeControl development team has shifted its focus to TimeControl 8.6 and beyond. There’s a lot of development design that was already underway before version 8.5 was released and that has now expanded to more detailed design and actual coding of new features. We’re also looking beyond TimeControl 8.6 with a few to an upgraded infrastructure for TimeControl and possible features that would be AI oriented. We know that the TimeControl Blog recently addressed how our TimeControl AI efforts will not include filling in your timesheet for you so don’t expect that. But, there are other areas of TimeControl where we think AI can make a contribution to the product which we’ll be exploring in the development department during this year. The schedules for TimeControl 8.6 and beyond have not been determined.

TimeControl Mobile is getting lots of attention

By: Marketing

More and more of our clients are using the mobile interface and as a result, one of the focuses of the next few months will include the free TimeControl Mobile App. It is available at no cost on Google Play for Android devices and the Apple Store for iOS devices. We have identified a number of enhancements that we’d like to get into TimeControl Mobile that never made it into the last 2 iterations of TimeControl. There are some new features we added to TimeControl on-premises and TimeControl Online that we would like to have mobile equivalents for and some features that we’ve been eying for some time that will get a shot at making TimeControl Mobile even more attractive.  If you'd like to see more about the free TimeControl Mobile App, go to: TimeControl.com/features/mobile.
