Hadih and hello.
The Prince George Chamber of Commerce will unveil the inaugural issue of its official magazine later this year. This publication will be distributed at no cost to all Chamber members and prospective members, as well as government officials at all levels, with the aim of highlighting the objectives and needs of our local business community. Additionally, it will be made available at key locations throughout the city to promote the Chamber, its members, and the work we do together building community through business. There will also be a digital version of the magazine.
Besides shining a spotlight on the contributions local businesses make to the community, we’ll also explore the challenges before us and those on the horizon, as well as the opportunities that come with those challenges. The economic pain and deep uncertainty around the tariffs and the future of our trading relationship with the United States means we have to work harder than ever to support one another to not only protect our economy but continue to grow and diversify. This magazine will be just one of those many efforts going forward to advocate for local businesses and we invite you to support this initiative in the way that best works for you and your business.
Over the coming months, representatives from DEL Communications Inc, a Canadian company, will be reaching out to members (and future members!) to discuss advertising opportunities within the magazine. They have produced excellent publications for our fellow Chambers across Canada and we know they’ll do an amazing job for us. We encourage you to consider allocating a portion of your marketing budget to this effort, as it will play a key role in promoting your business and the Chamber’s work, as well as fostering local economic development.
If you have any questions or would like further information, please don’t hesitate to contact me directly at ceo@pgchamber.bc.ca or call me at 250-552-6029.
A couple of other things:
- If you haven’t completed the Support PG Business Survey yet, the deadline has been extended until April 11. This survey is part of a joint initiative from several partners -- City of Prince George, Prince George Chamber of Commerce, Community Futures Fraser-Fort George, BC Northern Real Estate Board, Downtown Prince George, Tourism Prince George, CHBA Northern BC, and Northern Regional Construction Association.
- The Chamber won’t be organizing or participating in a federal election forum, despite our efforts behind the scenes to organize something with our premier partners at Pattison Media. The short campaign, two of the largest ridings geographically in the country, and the Easter weekend all contributed to being able to arrange an in-person Q&A with the candidates as a group. Nevertheless, we urge all of you to follow the campaign closely and vote for the candidate the best reflects your values and will help support and sustain your business.
All the best,
Neil
