Dear Residents -

This week, I had the pleasure of attending two Orangetown senior club meetings. At one, I updated the members on what’s happening in town and answered questions. At the other, I was delighted to wish a member a happy 100th birthday. For me, connecting with Orangetown residents of all ages is my favorite part of the job. If you’re a member of a local organization, club or not-for-profit that is interested in having me at a meeting, reach out to my office and we’ll make every effort to accommodate the request. This not only gives the members a chance to hear from me but more importantly, for me to hear from them.

With Memorial Day only a few weeks away, my staff is busy putting together a list of ceremonies and events taking place in Orangetown. If you are an organizer of such an event, please email Allison Kardon or call (845) 359-5100 x 2293 with the details so that we can include it on our list. While many consider this holiday as the unofficial start of summer, it’s important to remember that it is a time to honor those who died while serving in the military. The list of events will be included in a future newsletter and, as attendance at these events means a lot to our veterans, I ask that you try to attend one.

The opening of the Pearl River Farmers Market last Saturday was a huge success - I know because I am still enjoying the “fruits” (and vegetables) of my shopping. I encourage everyone to check it out one Saturday. But if Saturdays don’t work with your schedule, you can also head to the Nyack Farmers Market on Thursdays or the Piermont Farmers Market on Sundays.

Looking for things to do this weekend? Tomorrow, the Semi-Annual Paper Shredding event at Town Hall is from 8 am to 11:30 am and the Pearl River Farmers Market at the Central Avenue Field is from 10 am to 2 pm. But if you are looking for something a little more exciting to do, head to Nyack for the 2025 Dancing in the Streets event, a free outdoor concert series in the heart of Nyack from 4 pm to 10 pm (boy, that’s a lot of dancing). To accommodate the event, note that N. Broadway will be closed from Main Street to High Avenue from 10 am to approximately midnight.

And on Sunday, if you are fortunate to still have your mom with you, spoil her rotten! To all the amazing moms out there, Happy Mother’s Day.

Regards,

Teresa M. Kenny

Earth Day Celebrations with St. Thomas Aquinas College (STAC)

Supervisor Kenny joined President Kenneth Daly, Vice President Thomas Flood, Provost Robert Murray, Vice President Kevin Nesbitt, Dean Michael Murphy, Professor Angela McDonnell and the STAC students who planned the Earth Day Celebration this year. Despite having to cancel the event this year due to the weather, it was important to recognize and show appreciation to the students for their hard work.

2025 Meatball Cook-off Contest

Supervisor Kenny was a judge at Senator Weber's 2nd Annual Meatball Cook-off Contest last week. With 9 contestants, the judges enjoyed tasting 9 meatballs. With all of them tasting great, it made it difficult to pick a winner - so they picked two! Congratulations to Sophia Fantino & John Vitale (tie for 1st place), Mike Coiro (2nd Place) and Richie Bonardi (3rd Place).

Celebrating 100 years of Eileen Rufo

On Friday, Supervisor Kenny joined the Pearl River A Senior Club to wish Eileen Rufo a Happy 100th Birthday and to quiz her on her diet and skincare regime—because she looks fabulous. Happy Birthday Mrs. Rufo—Supervisor Kenny looks forward to celebrating with you again next year!
