1.)   Early Learning Virtual Professional Development Day: Friday, February 11th
We are just over a month away from our second annual Early Learning Virtual Professional Development Day on Friday, February 11th from 8:45am – 3:30pm. Registration for sessions will open on Tuesday, January 18th. On Wednesday this week I will send you the session descriptions, so that you can pass them along to the rest of your early learning staff team and have time to look them over and decide which sessions to attend. We will have three options at the 9:00am – 12:00pm timeframe and two options at the 12:30pm – 3:30pm timeframe with a lunch break in-between. The good news is that the presenters have agreed to come back and do their sessions throughout the rest of the year, so if you have a difficult choice choosing between sessions you will have a second opportunity to take a training that you miss. Looking forward to a great day of Professional Development and be on the lookout for my email on Wednesday!

2.)   Screening and Assessment Tools to Try: Kaymbu and ESGI
Following the Screening and Assessment Inventory that you filled out a couple of months ago I had conversations with two subscription-based platforms that do this type of work. I know there were multiple schools that were potentially looking for a new tool. Both Kaymbu and ESGI have opportunities for you to try their tools at no cost to see if they might be a good fit for your program. After you explore please let me know if you are interested in engaging with either of these platforms – I can get you connected to our contact at either company to make sure you are on the Office of Catholic Schools account and can get the best deal.

Kaymbu: They have opened a free “sandbox” classroom for us to go and explore the tool. Don’t worry – you can’t mess it up! It will be open until Friday, January 21st.

Here are the instructions for logging in:

Sandbox Instructions:

To try it out on desktop, you will simply go to my.kaymbu.com and log in with:
Your email address =  david.mayer@seattlearch.org
Your password = dave1234

They also recommend downloading the Kaymbu app and logging in the exact same way so you can try it on all your devices as well!

ESGI: ESGI has a free trail that you can activate at any time. Please locate the trial at ESGI - One-on-one Assessments Made Easy (esgisoftware.com) – after starting your trial you click on the PreK/Kindergarten button to get started.

3.)   Licensed Only: PACE option for Job Role Education Requirement in MERIT
As staff are selecting the option that works best for them to meet their Job Role Education Requirement in MERIT; DCYF did a webinar last week on the PACE program – a new option to meet that requirement for Assistant Teachers and Lead Teachers. Below is a link to an 18-minute webinar that gives you all the details on this option. Please let me know if you have any questions about whether this is a good path for your staff!

Thank you and have a wonderful week!
