Dear Epiphanites,
Shortly before the Rev. Amy Dills-Wright left for her sabbatical this summer, she reminded us in her Pentecost sermon that the church consists of all its members, acting collectively as the living Body of Christ, and that the Holy Spirit endows each of us with unique gifts that contribute to the overall health, vitality, and mission of the church. I am grateful for the many ways – large and small – that members of this community have worked together since then for the benefit of our parish and those we serve.
Thank you to our vestry, staff, and volunteers for ensuring that our operations and programming run smoothly. We continue to make progress repairing those areas of our building that were impacted by the recent water damage, and just this week we installed the replacement refrigerator in the kitchen! Special thanks to our Facilities Manager, Jason Sullivan, for coordinating those efforts.
I am grateful, too, to the many people who have helped lead our worship and music. I am excited to share that the Rev. Emily Elder will be with us this Sunday, June 21, as our guest celebrant following her ordination to the priesthood at St. Philip’s Cathedral on Saturday, June 20. All are welcome to attend that event. You can find more information below.
Finally, I am thankful to all of you for your prayers and presence as we serve God together in this sabbatical season. Next month we’ll participate in a parish-wide Sunday service project packing lunches for our unhoused neighbors at DEAM. Please consult your newsletter and bulletin and plan to join us during coffee hour as we experiment with this new expression of service and solidarity.
Hope to see you Sunday!
Carmie

DEAM Pantry Drive
For the Month of June
| Epiphany stocks the pantry at the Decatur-area Emergency Assistance Ministry (DEAM) twice a year in January and June. For the month of June, we are collecting canned vegetables (especially greens), canned soup, and multi-packs of peanut butter crackers. We hope to collect 75 of each. Wooden bins for your donations are in the gallery by the front door. Also, we collect travel toiletries year round. | | | | |
Contemplative Book Group
Thursdays at 11:00 a.m. through July 9
| |
6/25—This time the group will be exploring Subversive Sabbath by A. J. Swoboda, for five weeks starting June 11 in Room 201. We’ll be looking at Sabbath as both a spiritual practice and a form of resistance to the prevailing culture of productivity, distraction, and anxiety, both individually and for our communities. Swoboda proposes that “God may actually do more when we do less.”
Drop-ins are welcome as together we seek to live into the creative, abundant life God desires for us.
| | | | Thank you to everyone who contributed to helping our youth attend Camp Mikell this summer! You can continue to encourage our campers while they are away by sending a care package or a letter. Parish Service Project
Members of the Community Engagement committee invite Epiphanites young, old, and in-between to participate in a service project we’re calling "Lunch Bags for Neighbors following the morning service on July 12, 2026: we will pack 200 lunch bags for DEAM (Decatur-area Emergency Assistance Ministry) to distribute to local people experiencing food insecurity.
| | |
During the Vestry Retreat in February, vestry members and clergy toured the area of Holy Trinity Parish occupied by DEAM, which provides food, pharmacy, and utility assistance for people experiencing hardship. We visited the pantry and lunch bag distribution area, and learned about partnerships that include 18 area churches, the Atlanta Community Food Bank, and the United Way. The tour was led by Nancy Garrison, DEAM volunteer and member of Holy Trinity. Nancy will be joining us on July 12 to be on hand during the service project and will share information about DEAM with Epiphanites who want to know more.
Other community engagement ministry teams will contribute delicious treats for that morning’s Summer Breakfast. All are invited to join in.
