NYLT - Premier Youth Leadership Training
|
|
|
|
It’s not too late – ONE WEEK LEFT to register for the June NYLT course at Camp Hart!
NYLT – the National Youth Leadership Training program – is Scouting’s premier leadership development course for young people in our program. NYLT is the youth companion to the Wood Badge training program for adults which, together, seek to instill core leadership concepts and offer fundamental leadership tools and techniques applicable in a variety of real-work contexts, especially in their home Troop, Crew or Ship. With NYLT trained youth leaders in your unit, your program will “hum” and your job as adult leader gets easier – a true win-win outcome! This training should be particularly valuable to girls new to Scouting and assuming leadership roles in their ScoutsBSA troops.
The JUNE NYLT course runs from Sat 6/25 to Thu 6/30; registration will close by 6/17.
Additional courses will be offered in August (8/13-18 – full week)
and “October” (9/30-10/2 and 10/7-9 – consecutive weekends)
NYLT teaches such concepts and techniques as
- VISION :: What does success look like?
- GOALS :: What must be accomplished to realize that Vision? What are SMART Goals?
- PLANNING :: How do I organize our people and resources to achieve each goal?
- PROBLEM SOLVING :: What are some common techniques for dealing with problems as they arise?
- COMMUNICATION :: How do I effectively exchange my ideas and ensure we all understand?
- STAGES OF TEAM DEVELOPMENT :: How do I recognize and respond to different “stages” as the team develops and matures?
- CONFLICT MANAGEMENT :: How do I respond to conflict as it arises?
- EDGE™ TECHNIQUES :: How can EDGE be applied for Teaching and Leading?
- VALUING PEOPLE :: How do I foster an environment of inclusion and diversity for all members of the team?
And much more!

Some Cub Elective Adventures Retired
|
|
A note from the National Council -
If your Bear Cub Scout earned the World of Sound elective adventure, he or she was one of the few who did. To be more agile in program development, 19 elective adventures have been retired, effective May 31, 2022. These 19 elective adventures have been some of the least popular with some being earned by fewer than 3% of Cub Scouts.
