I hope this finds email you well on this 4th day of 2022.
While it didn’t snow yesterday, there is a chance of snow Thursday night. If snow does fall and things like schools, alternate side parking, or sanitation are impacted, I’ll let you know ASAP. With that, I’ll briefly touch on two points.
First, Covid hospitalizations in NYC have surpassed 5k for the first time since the spring of 2020. This is straining the city’s healthcare and 911 systems. With that in mind, I was able to speak with FDNY Assistant Commissioner Jason Shelly. He explained that FDNY asks people to only call 911 for true emergencies. However, mild Covid symptoms are not such an emergency. Also, ambulances do not provide testing for COVID-19, and patients are not transported to a hospital to be tested upon request. Of course, this highlights a need for at-home tests to be made readily available. But I digress and remind you to click here for Covid testing locations and the best way to avoid needing Covid services; getting vaccinated and being boosted!
On that note, I’ll stop and suggest you start scrolling down this email. If you don’t scroll down, I still wish for you to stay safe, enjoy the rest of your Tuesday.
P.S Please forgive any typos or brain freezes in the text as I get these updates out in haste at the end of the day, and if there is a community-centric itoem you think I should know aboutplease reach out.
