Life Is Full of Shift: Leading Through Change with People at the Center

By Teresa Rand, Rand Consulting CEO

In today’s rapidly evolving business climate, change is not a phase—it’s a constant. From emerging technologies to shifting workforce expectations, the ability to adapt isn’t just a leadership skill—it’s a survival strategy. This means equipping leaders with the tools to navigate uncertainty while still inspiring clarity and confidence. At Teresa Rand Consulting, we believe that the most resilient organizations are those led by individuals who embrace change not as a threat, but as an opportunity to lead with purpose.

One of the most overlooked assets in navigating change is understanding the personalities of your team members. Tools like DISC, Gallup Strengths, or B.A.N.K. reveal how people prefer to communicate, make decisions, and respond to stress—critical insights when your team is navigating unfamiliar terrain. Understanding individual motivations enables leaders to delegate effectively, resolve conflicts swiftly, and promote psychological safety. In short, personality awareness isn't just a soft skill—it’s a hard strategy for achieving better results.

Professional services are no longer about technical expertise alone—they’re about human expertise. As businesses face more “shifts” in less time than ever before, leaders who know how to meet change with both emotional intelligence and strategic clarity will be the ones who succeed. Whether you're managing ten people or a thousand, the future belongs to those who lead through people, not around them.

Monthly Member Focus

During the month of June, professional services will be the focus. Members from the professional services category will have the opportunity to submit a business spotlight to be featured in The Edge newsletter, on social media, and on the Chamber website.

Business spotlight submission deadlines are 5/30, 6/6, 6/13, 6/20, 6/27.

Direct questions to Kelly Amy, Member Engagement & Communications Director, at 386.229.5759 or kelly@daytonachamber.com.
