A Path into the Green Industry

Ian’s journey into the green industry began with a unique blend of creativity and craftsmanship. As a teenager exploring career paths, he was drawn both to construction and the arts. That combination led him to a landscape design certification program at Cal State University Northridge – an experience that quickly set his career in motion. After taking an entry-level role with a landscape contractor in Malibu, Ian found his calling, and the rest is history.

Discovering CLCA

Ian’s first exposure to CLCA came from seeing the logo on landscape trucks in the early 2000s. Even then, he viewed membership as a “badge of legitimacy.” After relocating to the Central Coast in 2010, he began attending local events and learning more about the association.

Building Connections & Giving Back

Ian’s motivation to join CLCA was rooted in connection and growth. While the companies he worked for were already members, he personally joined to expand his network, learn from seasoned professionals, and mentor newer contractors entering the field.

Through his involvement, Ian has built meaningful relationships across the industry; connections that have provided valuable insight, shared knowledge, and practical resources for running a successful business in our region.

Leadership & Vision

Driven by a strong sense of responsibility, Ian chose to serve on the board recognizing that our chapter is entirely run by volunteers. He believes in contributing to something bigger than himself and helping shape a chapter that people are excited to be part of.

As President, Ian’s goal is simple but impactful: to create an engaging and enriching experience that attracts both new and returning members, making CLCA a community people genuinely enjoy being part of.

Advice for New Contractors

“Do it, get involved. The cost of membership is nominal compared to the connections you’ll make. Those relationships will open doors and bring recognition and legitimacy to your business.”

Outside of Work

Ian is an avid backpacker, hunter, and outdoorsman. He and his wife also share a dream of one day owning a horse ranch.

Please join us in welcoming Ian Parker as your 2026 Chapter President. We look forward to an exciting year ahead under his leadership.
