From The Pastor's Desk:
Happy Independence Day!
As the 4th of July is upon us we celebrate the freedom and liberty we enjoy as a country, as spelled out in the Declaration of Independence. With these hard won gifts comes the responsibility to live out the ideals of that declaration for ourselves and for each other. On July 5/6th we will worship God, the giver of all good things, in special “Freedom in Christ” services. We are reminded of the hard won gifts we receive from Jesus - the freedom to live as God’s people, freed to love and serve our neighbors and the world. My thanks to Pastor Dave Stoner for stepping in that weekend! It will be his final time serving as supply, intending to enter fully into retirement afterward. Please congratulate him and wish him well for the future!
On that weekend we will continue to gather to worship in the Fellowship Hall as we await the installation of new air conditioning units in the sanctuary. The hope is the project will be completed by the end of July. Our first weekend in the Fellowship Hall was quite comfortable, intimate - and air conditioned! Thank you to the many generous folks who made contributions - above and beyond regular giving that support our ministries - to make the A/C project a reality.
Summer is traditionally a time of vacations and outdoor activities, and while it’s wonderful to travel and enjoy the warm weather - it’s also important to remain connected with our faith. VBS (Vacation Bible School) is just around the corner - July 14-17th - students and helpers are wanted and deeply appreciated! Worship gives us the opportunity to be reminded of God’s gracious gifts in creation - restoring our spirits, renewing our hope, and refreshing our souls. Every weekend our congregation gathers to receive God’s gifts, to connect with each other once again, and to support the mission of the church. All are vital - and your participation and financial gifts make our presence as the Body of Christ possible.
I hope to see you soon! May your summer, each and every day, be filled with God’s richest blessings!
Pastor Barry Scott

Music Ministry "Notes"
From Director Rick Krause
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Lord Of Life In The News!
The Association of Lutheran Church Musicians recently gave a monetary grant to Lord of Life to help pay for the cost of getting our new organ placed and functional in our Sanctuary. They strongly felt that the story of how we were able to obtain this magnificent musical instrument would inspire other churches to do something similar. Obtaining the organ began with generous church member contributions, but the grant added helpful additional funds. They wanted to share our story in one of their publications, In Tempo. The article, written by Rick Krause, appeared in the latest issue of that newsletter. You can read it by clicking on the link below.
Lord Of Life Quilt Ministry:
Search For Material
Is On!
Our quilters have been busy sewing quilt squares together to make quilts, but they are running out of cloth to cut into quilt squares.
If anyone has scrap or unwanted pieces of cloth, please consider donating them to our Quilt Ministry. Any color or pattern is welcome. The cloth material must be larger than 11 inches by 11 inches and the type of material that would be appropriate for making into a quilt (cotton or cotton-polyester).
Backings for our quilts are also in need. Bed sheets of any size, both gently used or new work best for making our quilts.
If you have any questions, please contact Gloria Brosious. Thank you in advance for your donations!
View The Church Directory
For the last several months, Lord of Life has been using a digital, on-line church pictorial directory. Many of our church members have installed the software on their home computers and cell phones to access it.
You can now also see it by clicking on the link below.
To View The Directory - Click Here
Please take a look at your listing in the directory. Did you notice that your photo or your family photo is missing or out of date? If so, you can send the church an updated photo that will be placed into this directory by sending an email to photos@lordlife.us containing the attachment of your photo. Remember that we are more interested in seeing your faces rather than beautiful background scenes!
Contact Tom Tait (856-725-2450 or tom.tait@comcast.net) if you would like more information, or would like to have this church photo directory installed onto your cell phone.
Plastic Bag Recycling At Lord Of Life
Next time you are in Fellowship Hall, look for a large white box near the back outside doors. Above the box, you will see the sign pictured here. It explains what types of plastic bags, wrap, and film can be deposited into the box for recyling. These are some of the materials that cannot be placed in your curbside recyling containers. Our church is providing a way for you to recyle these plastic materials.
Click on the link to see a better picture of what types of plastic materials can be placed into the mesh bag.
A Note From Janell Reich:
A big THANK YOU to everyone who participated in our Book Exchange! There was quite a selection.
When the Book Exchange ends, most remaining books will be distributed between Baker Industries and the Interfaith Homeless Outreach Council. Lord of Life church friend, Linda Jagiela, works at both of these organizations and will take them there. The first organization helps former prisoners assimilate back into society and the second supports and houses the homeless. Linda will also place some of the books in a “book arc” that is part of the Camden Free Books Project. The location of the arc is outside a home for men.
Thank you, Linda, for sharing these books with those in need!
Unafraid: Living with Courage and Hope in Uncertain Times
By Adam Hamilton
As the senior pastor of a large, diverse church in America’s heartland, Adam Hamilton has seen the cost of fear up close. When he surveyed his congregation on how fear affects them, 2,400 people responded, and what they said was eye-opening. Eighty percent admitted to living with moderate or significant levels of fear.
Unafraid is Hamilton’s insightful and impassioned response. Drawing on recent research, inspiring real-life examples, and fresh biblical insight, Hamilton uses a mixture of facts and faith to help readers understand and counter fears related to such outsize perils as death and illness, as well as the everyday anxieties all of us encounter. He invites us to:
Face our fears with a bias of hope
Examine our fears in light of the facts
Attack our anxieties with action
Release our cares to God
With summer upon us, the Stepping-Stones to Health Committee is
dedicating the months of July and August to various health topics
related to the season. Did you know that according to the American Cancer
addition to sun safety, we will discuss such topics as water safety, heat-
related illnesses, insect bites, picnic safety, and sports injuries.
Stop by the Focus on Health Table in the Fellowship Hall to learn more.
The Stepping-Stones to Health Committee encourages you to pick up our free monthly handouts and/or speak to one of our members, including: Joan Molnar, Lu Hourihan, Janell Reich, Heather Cosper, Barbara Ma, or Cynthia Tait.
Have a health topic of interest? Please share with a member of our committee.
Friday, June 13th
During Vacation Bible School, the attendees are formed in groups as they travel from one activity to another. To help keep each group together, signs are used by the leader to guide them. Shown are our artists, Penny Miller, Tina Leach, Sara King, and Nancy Di Yenno with their completed leader signs.
July 4, 2025:
This coming July 4th marks the 249th anniversary of Independence Day. However, not many know that we might want to consider July 2nd the day on which we should celebrate our independence from England. On July 2, 1776, the Continental Congress voted unanimously to adopt the Lee Resolution, presented by Virginia Delegate Richard Henry Lee. This resolution declared that the United States would be independent from Great Britain's rule. After the vote, John Adams wrote to his wife, Abigail, "The second day of July 1776, will be the most memorable epoch in the history of America."
After passing the Lee Resolution, Congress worked on adapting the wording of the Declaration presented by the "Committee Of Five," delegates who were tasked to write the Declaration. The Delegates were: John Adams, Benjamin Franklin, Thomas Jefferson, Robert Livingston, and Roger Sherman. The Committee selected Jefferson to write the Declaration since he was, by far, the best one to put ideas and thoughts into meaningful words. Congress voted on the final Declaration wording on July 4, 1776. That date appeared on the first and later copies of the Declaration and, thus, became the date recognized as Independence Day.
A couple of weeks ago, the Editor visited the Billy Graham Library in Charlotte, NC. I wonder how many times you would have heard this ending song at one of his Crusades.
Enjoy!
