A Message From NMBio Executive Director, Janeth Peña
Since stepping into the role of executive director (ED) of the New Mexico Biotechnology and Biomedical Association (NMBio), I have enjoyed connecting with our members, partners, and stakeholders to strengthen New Mexico’s bioscience community.
Having spent my career at the intersection of science, innovation, and business development, I have seen firsthand the potential of our bioscience sector and its ability to drive economic growth across the state.
As ED, my goal is to build on NMBio’s foundation by expanding member engagement, workforce development, advocacy, and industry visibility. I want NMBio to connect people, ideas, and organizations across the state.
At BIO 2026 later this month, I am proud to represent New Mexico’s bioscience ecosystem as ED of NMBio and as a Start-up Stadium presenter for Sandia Biotech. I am grateful to the New Mexico Bioscience Authority for its travel grant support.
BIO is a premier gathering for the global life sciences community, with industry leaders, researchers, investors, entrepreneurs, and policymakers. It provides an opportunity to highlight the talent, innovation, and entrepreneurial spirit that make New Mexico an emerging force in the biosciences.
I'd like to extend a special thank you to the organizers of the New Mexico Pavilion at BIO 2026: AREA, NM Partnership, UNM HSC, NMBSA, SEA, and NM Venture Studios. They have put a lot of time and effort into providing our state's bioscience companies an international stage and I'm looking forward to seeing the presentations at the booth.
If you'll be attending BIO 2026, I invite you to stop by the New Mexico Pavilion and learn more about the people and organizations driving our bioscience ecosystem forward. See you there!
Best regards,
