Third Sunday of Lent
Everything in Between: Martha, Mary, and the Main Thing
Luke 10:38-42
This Lent, we are letting the Gospel of Luke guide us. We join Jesus as he “sets his face towards Jerusalem.” Over the next several chapters and weeks, we are reflecting on the stories and parables that defined Jesus’ final chapter in ministry. This week’s Scripture reading is the story of Martha and Mary, who receive Jesus and the disciples into their home. We eavesdrop on a conversation Jesus has with Martha, who is worried and distracted over many things, while her sister Mary sits at his feet to listen to him.
