Hello! My kids went back to school this week after a wonderful summer break. My 2nd (!) grader Eamon’s teacher read Welcome To Our Classroom on the first day and I took advantage of my finally quiet house to finish a book. While we have several more weeks until our equinoctial transition out of official summer, I am excitedly looking ahead to some huge novels coming to our shelves in September.
Amanda Peters’ The Berry Pickers and Ariel Lawhon’s The Frozen River remain popular sellers and both authors have new titles coming out - The Birthing Tree on September 1st and The Pirate Queen on September 8th. Also on the 8th, Yellowface author R. F. Kuang releases Taipei Story and Jodi Picoult’s newest Hollow Bones comes September 15th (was anyone else charmed by her last name pronunciation video on Instagram? “Peek… oh!”). My personal favorite shares the September 15th publication date, when Emily St. John Mandel (Station Eleven; Sea of Tranquility) releases Exit Party.
Now that you’ve updated your TBR list, please mark your calendars for three fantastic in-store events. One of the best books I read this year - Luna, Phoenix, Queen - comes out on October 13th and we are thrilled to be hosting author Julie Orringer that evening. She’ll be joined by writer Sloane Crosley (Grief Is For People) and tickets are on sale now. We also are celebrating Tessa Wegert’s new installment in her North Country series and hosting a midnight release party for all the ACOTAR fans out there! Scroll down for more details.
Enjoy your last weekend of August and see you around the store!
