Dear Members and Friends,

June marked the beginning of the World Cup, and with it, the opening of the DFB's German House of Soccer (GHOS) here in New York. On June 12th, we were excited to celebrate the official opening of the GHOS alongside the DFB and their partners, followed by Germany Day on June 22nd, where we welcomed hundreds of guests to celebrate German culture, sports, business, and community.

While Germany has unfortunately been eliminated from the tournament, the German House of Soccer remains a "German House für alle" and will continue to welcome soccer fans through July 11th. Guests can enjoy watch parties, special appearances by German soccer legends, and various networking opportunities. The GHOS continues to serve as a meeting point for fans from all over the world. The full GHOS program can be found here.

In addition, the GHOS Champions Lounge, the venue's exclusive VIP area, is available to book for private events and watch parties. If you are interested in booking the Champions Lounge, please reach out to us.

We are especially looking forward to July 7th, when the GACC New York, together with the German Consulate General in New York, will host a networking reception at the German House of Soccer in celebration of the 250th anniversary of the United States. Under the theme "250 Years of USA: Shaping the Transatlantic Economy," the event will highlight the longstanding economic ties between Germany and the United States and the role of transatlantic cooperation in fostering innovation, trade, and growth.

Beyond the World Cup celebrations, June brought together our German American business network through a wide range of events, including our fourth BBQ & Connect event at our member, the German International School New York (GISNY), NY Tech Week, a Lightweight Construction & Additive Manufacturing Delegation from Germany to New York and Boston, the successful wrap-up of our STEM Game Lab Workshop Series, and this year's German American Business Forum (DAWT) in Mainz.

Looking ahead, we invite you to save the date for our Fall Gala Dinner & Newcomer of the Year Award, taking place on November 12th, 2026 at Manhatta. If you are interested in hosting a table or becoming a cocktail reception sponsor for the gala, please reach out to us.

We look forward to welcoming you at our upcoming events!

Warm regards,

Your GACC NY Team

Recent Events

BBQ & Connect 4.0

On June 1st, we hosted our fourth BBQ & Connect event in collaboration with our long-standing member, German International School New York (GISNY), in White Plains.

Despite the slightly chilly evening, the sunny weather and the beautiful outdoor setting at GISNY provided a great atmosphere for networking, engaging conversations, classic German BBQ favorites, and refreshing drinks.

A heartfelt thank you to Volker Ovelgönne and Ute Zimmermann at GISNY for hosting us, and to all our guests for attending!

NY Tech Week: "The Next Phase of Enterprise Systems"

On June 1st, we kicked off NY Tech Week at Hudson Yards with "The Next Phase of Enterprise Systems" hosted by SAP, Insight Partners, and German American Chamber of Commerce, Inc.

One theme stood out throughout the evening: enterprise systems are evolving beyond automation toward autonomous decision-making. The conversation explored what it means for organizations to move from rigid, rules-based workflows to adaptive systems that can act independently while maintaining trust, governance, and accountability.

A few key takeaways:

  • The future of enterprise software isn't just about efficiency - it's about enabling systems to make context-aware decisions at scale.
  • Governance, transparency, and risk management will be just as important as the underlying technology as organizations adopt more autonomous capabilities.
  • The biggest opportunities may come from augmenting human expertise rather than replacing it, creating more intelligent and responsive operations.

We appreciated the insights from David Robinson (SAP), George Mathew (Insight Partners), and moderator Patrick Kulp (Morning Brew), as well as the startup showcase featuring Valence, Strike48, and Fiddler AI. It was especially valuable to hear how founders are translating these concepts into practical solutions being deployed today.

The event left attendees with great conversations, new connections, and plenty of ideas to explore further.

We thank SAP Labs, particularly Daniel Zimmer, Stephanie Mosqueda, and Angela Marie Feher, for the continued collaboration.

STEM Game Lab Workshop Series

Over the past few months, we successfully concluded the STEM Game Lab Workshop Series, the first module of the NextGen Gaming Program, bringing together students, educators, industry professionals, and game developers from both sides of the Atlantic.

Over the course of the series, 3 workshops brought together 10 expert speakers and nearly 100 participants from across the United States and Germany to explore the intersection of game development, STEM education, workforce development, and international collaboration.

Through engaging discussions and expert insights, participants explored:

  • How the U.S. game development industry is structured and where entry points for new talent exist
  • Germany's approach to integrating game development into STEM education and building a skilled workforce
  • Models for transatlantic exchange that connect students, educators, and industry professionals across borders

A special thank you to all of our speakers who generously shared their expertise throughout the series, as well as everyone who participated and contributed to the discussions.

This marks an important milestone for the NextGen Gaming Program, but it is only the beginning. Following the successful completion of the STEM Game Lab Workshop Series, we are excited to continue fostering transatlantic exchange through upcoming initiatives, including a Transatlantic Faculty Meet & Greet and our Gamescom Ambassador Trip this August.

We look forward to continuing the conversation and building new connections across the transatlantic gaming ecosystem.
