Maple Sugaring Days Return to Coggeshall Farm Museum
Bristol, R.I. – Maple Sugaring Days are returning to Coggeshall Farm Museum this February and March. This annual tradition will be happening on February 28th and March 1st, and on March 7th and 8th; the Farm will be open from 10:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. on these days. During this event, guests can interact with costumed historians and learn about the making and history of maple sugar.
During Maple Sugaring Days guests can explore the farm to learn about the history of maple sugar in the region and its connections to land usage, trade, and early abolitionist movements. Visitors can learn about the process of creating maple sugar from start to finish as costumed historians demonstrate the sugaring process, from carving spiles and tapping the trees, collecting the sap, to boiling it down and removing the water. Visitors can search the farm for maple trees to be part of the tree-tapping process and participate in hands-on activities such as scavenger hunts, maple crafts, and kids’ games. While at the Farm, guests will see heritage breed animals, talk with costumed historians, visit the historic farmhouse, and take home new knowledge about the region’s history and traditions.
Maple Sugaring Days are included with Standard Daytime Admission. For more information and to purchase tickets in advance, visit Coggeshall Farm’s website www.coggeshallfarm.org/event/maple-sugaring.
