Work in the Memorial Garden

Visitors to Epiphany often remark on the sense of peace they experience when they first arrive on our campus. Tucked away from the bustle of the city, Epiphany feels like sacred ground—a place set apart for prayer, reflection, and community. Over the years, we have been blessed by gifted planners and dedicated volunteers who have lovingly cared for our property and helped shape the beauty of our campus.

Fifteen years ago, the parish undertook a comprehensive Memorial Garden Renewal Campaign which included new walkways, a brick patio surrounding the memorial plaque wall, and concrete benches placed throughout the garden. Two small lychgates, modeled after the main gate at the courtyard entrance, were constructed at the side entrances to the garden. More than architectural features, these lychgates mark the physical and spiritual threshold between the ordinary world and the sacred, consecrated space of the Memorial Garden.

Earlier this year, it became evident that the northernmost lychgate required significant repairs. Our Facilities Manager, Jason Sullivan, consulted with Bill Graves, who had been instrumental in its original construction. As work progressed, it became clear that the gate was no longer structurally sound and would need to be carefully dismantled and rebuilt to ensure the safety of all who visit our campus. Jason is salvaging as much of the original wood as possible and will reconstruct the gate according to its original design, using new cedar that will preserve the beauty and character of the Memorial Garden for years to come.

Thanks to the generosity of those who contributed to the Memorial Garden Fund over the years, monies are already available for this important work. We anticipate that the rebuilt lychgate will be completed later this summer.

We give thanks for all those who have invested their time, talents, and resources to make our Memorial Garden a place where generations of Epiphanites and visitors alike may find beauty, comfort, and the peace of God's presence.

Membership Update

Paul & Linda Parisi

Paul and Linda discovered Epiphany as part of their journey for spiritual growth within a caring and diverse community. Paul is originally from New Orleans but has made Atlanta his home since 1987. He is a lifelong Episcopalian, being active most recently with St. Catherine’s in Marietta. Linda is originally from the Decatur area, where she was raised Catholic. In her adult years, she was active in other denominations, as well as with Buddhist congregations in the Atlanta area. Paul and Linda enjoy retired life by spending time with their seven grandchildren, traveling both near and far, and savoring love, laughter and delicious meals with family and friends.

If you are relatively new to the parish, or have been attending for some time and would like to "officially" join by way of transfer from another church of any denomination, just fill out the form below and bring it by the office or email it to the parish office.

Congratulations to the Rev. Emily Elder, who was ordained to the priesthood at St. Philip’s Cathedral on Saturday, June 20. Emily was our seminarian and served as the Direction of Children & Youth from 2022-2024. Click the photo to see more images.

PLEASE NOTE: The carpet in the offices, sacristy and AV Room will be replaced on Monday and Tuesday, July 6 and July 7. Access to those areas will be limited during that time. Please plan accordingly.

Wooden bins for your donations are in the gallery by the front door. Also, we collect travel toiletries year round.

Parish Service Project

Sunday, July 12 after the service

Members of the Community Engagement Committee invite Epiphanites young, old, and in-between to participate in a service project we’re calling "Lunch Bags for Neighbors" following the service on July 12, 2026: we will pack 200 lunch bags for DEAM (Decatur-area Emergency Assistance Ministry) to distribute to local people experiencing food insecurity.

During the Vestry Retreat in February, vestry members and clergy toured the area of Holy Trinity Parish occupied by DEAM, which provides food, pharmacy, and utility assistance for people experiencing hardship. We visited the pantry and lunch bag distribution area, and learned about partnerships that include 18 area churches, the Atlanta Community Food Bank, and the United Way. The tour was led by Nancy Garrison, DEAM volunteer and member of Holy Trinity. Nancy will be joining us on July 12 to be on hand during the service project and will share information about DEAM with Epiphanites who want to know more.

Other community engagement ministry teams will contribute delicious treats for that morning’s Expanded Coffee Hour. All are invited to join in.
