I know some of you are still considering joining me in Spain or Easter Island this summer, but I'm going to have to close down registration and finalize the logistics soon. If you want to join me, now is the time to decide.
Ancient Southern Spain - only 8 places left
The Southern Spain course will explore many beautiful places but our focus will be neolithic archaeology. We'll visit megalithic dolmens older than anything we saw in Ireland, 20,000 year old cave paintings and evidence that neanderthals once inhabited caves inside the Rock of Gibraltar!
Rapa Nui - only 3 places left
The Rapa Nui course will be something special. My plan is for the course participants to assist in an effort to liDAR map the entire island with drones. Of course, we'll also visit many of Rapa Nui's famous moai statues. After 127 years the island's indigenous inhabitants, the Rapa Nui people, regained authority over their ancestral lands in 2017. I've got a survey company lined up to donate the equipment and personnel - and now as of last week I received official permission from Rapa Nui to make the map and gift it to the community.
