CEEE News and Updates - May 2020
Center for Economic Education & Entrepreneurship
May 2020 Newsletter
Greetings!

Wow-- it seems like a lifetime ago that these experts visited our campus for the 2020 Lyons/CEEE Economic Forecast! While the still-unforeseen upheaval of the economy was not the focus of their February address to UD scholars and Delaware community leaders, their overall message did underscore the critical importance of understanding our global economy and taking responsibility for the part we play in it. We strongly believe that these very important conversations shouldn’t be saved only for higher education and C-suite executive audiences. While we don’t expect that every young student will one day become a financial expert, one of our goals is to help them master the basics that will produce a positive and lasting impact on their lives.

When schools closed their doors early this academic year, the teaching, remarkably, did not stop. Delaware’s K-12 educational community set off on an uncharted path of remote learning. The CEEE quickly jumped in to support this new normal, providing educators with relevant and manageable resources that could help them adapt economic and personal finance content for engaging and meaningful online education. We continue to develop new ways to support Delaware teachers and their students—efforts made possible because of committed partners and friends like you. While we’re still unsure what in-person education will look like or when it will return, one thing remains certain: the need for economic, personal finance, and entrepreneurial education to continue.

We are so appreciative of the vibrant community of supportive organizations and individuals who have come forward this spring to stand behind our work-- preparing educators and providing dynamic professional development and resources so that their students become well-grounded in economics and ultimately productive citizens. With your continued partnership, we will offer the educational groundwork that’s needed to help our communities recover. We invite you to read on about the progress we are making together.

Onward,
